T3 Only Hot Sticky flashes, some advice please.

Some questions to put out to you wonderful T3 takers.

T3 Routine. Wake at 6am 16 weeks into it. Had Rt3 and Low Cortisol am , High pm and low DHEA. All other vit's n minerals okay.

21.75mcgs @ 3.30am. 15.1mcgs @ 10-10.30am. 12.1mcgs @ 3.30-4pm.

I really hope I can get to the bottom of the Hot sticky feelings I am still experiencing on a daily basis. They have to be linked to something.

Dropping my Dose 3 by 2.5mcgs a week ago appeared to help initially in the late afternoon but the really strong flashes didn't improve. Worse time for these is around 8-9pm, 2am, 5am and the first few minutes when I wake up. I get no real hot spells in the mornings and early afternoons.

Yesterday (Saturday) I didn't take the final dose 3 as I still had temps up at 98.2 and felt okay but hot. This continued until bedtime holding a temp of 98.0 at 10pm a first for me!

Wake at 6am 23/3 Saturday

6.50am Temp 98.2, BP 103/67, HR 69. Unusual to be this high first thing.

1pm Temp 97.2, BP103/73, HR70

3.30pm 98.2, BP117/80, HR77

4.30pm 98.3, BP122/74, HR73

6pm 97.4, BP100/71, HR74 ( did 1/2 on a Turbo, Bike session)

10.15pm 98.0, BP 104/71, HR74

Today I woke feeling fine other than once again hot but with low temp, BP and HR.

This has happened on a few occasion early am.

Wake at 6.15am 24/03 Sunday

6.15am Temp 97.9, BP 98/66, HR 69

7.05am Temp 97.7, BP 97/67, HR 75

9.15am Temp 97.5, BP 106/73, HR 65 Feet and hands cold, and core cold so taken Dose 2 at 10am.

Feel I should have more T3 then get over hot again eech!

I'd love to hear if anyone else has had these issues whilst taking T3 only.

This one complaint aside things are going really well on T3 only. I know there is more tweaking to go and I'm dreading BST changes next week. Another question!

Some feed back would be helpful :) Sorry its a bit long but feel info useful.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect your cortisol may be playing a part in this. How did you find your optimum time for your circadian dose? Do you think it may be too much or too early? Did you start by taking it 1.5 hours before getting up and then increase this interval or go straight for 2.5 hours?

Sorry for all the questions. The answers may be important for someone who knows more about the circadian method. There are a few people on here using it so they may be able to advise.

Also, if it's not too personal a question, do you mind giving us an idea of your age? That might be important too, especially if you are female.

I'm sorry I couldn't be more help but hopefully someone more experienced will come along soon. I just didn't want this to go unanswered :)

Hi Carolyn,

Not a problem, questions either way work for me and thank you.

CT3M dose, good question. I started with a really low dose of 5mcgs at 1.5 hrs back. I wake at 6am usually.

Paul R advised me to increase it to 10mcgs and hold for a week, I then increased to 15, 20 as now.

Once I had the dose up to this I moved it back, furthest back was 3am, 3 hrs back. I soon found I needed to bring it forward to current time, all was well for a few weeks.

Temps were not coming up so PR had me increase day time doses. That then really helped everything. For quite a few weeks.

Now finding things a little confusing, and I do wonder if its Adrenals especially as my 4hr cortisol windows should be between 2-6am and I always seem to wake between 1-3am each night then get hot!

The evenings were when my last cortisol test showed higher levels, so I domwondernif I am over cooking it now.

Maybe I should either bring CT3M dose forward now or drop the levels. I am not too sure.

Thought I had too much T3 yesterday but today so far I have felt cold and temps have not risen above 97.6.

HR is strong but not fast telling me I may have too much daytime T3 I think! But other signs n symptoms say not enough! Eech its a mine field when it goes a bit wrong.

I' m a dried up 54 year old! Did wonder about menopause type flushes but not so sure as I had those before and they were like a hot wave coming up to my neck, these hot spells just hit me, with a rush and I feel slighty sicky for just a few seconds.

Still like T3 better than gallons of T4:)

I was wondering about menopause too (and 54 is not dried up! lol) but I don't know if that is what you are describing either. Perhaps someone else with experience of these flushes will be able to share whether it could be that.

PR might be your best bet for advice but there are a few on here who use CT3M that may be able to share experiences and what worked for them. I wonder if perhaps your timing is ok but the morning dose is too high and the later ones too small. Again, I am just guessing. I am one of the lucky ones who could take T3 all in one go in the morning and be fine for the rest of the day. Unfortunately I was then told I had to take levothyroxine like everyone else! Not been the same since :( I'm on NDT now and considering CT3M but need to get cortisol levels checked first, although I'm fairly sure they are low all day, especially so in the morning.

I hope someone can answer you question soon!

I'm a new type 54 now I've got rid of most of those Hypo symptoms!

I'd love to take all the T3 in one go but I think it would produce a very weird state. I'm wondering if this Endo will try the T4 trick, hope not, poor you.

I want to ask P R again on his Facebook page but I know he's been moving and sorting out lots of personal stuff so am trying to get feed back else where for now.

I think I'll try dropping the CT3M dose and upping the second dose.

Thanks for chipping in Carolyn xx
