Can anyone tell me if it's safe/beneficial to take Vit D - (1,000 IU , from Holland and Barret) along with 100mcg Levothyroxine ? Many thanks.

Don't take it literally at the same time. But separated by at least two hours, it is fine. Indeed, it is likely that some vitamin D supplementation is necessary.

Is 1,000 IU enough for you? Have you been tested?

Have you had any tests to say that you are low in vitd? and if so what were the results.

If you do take ANY suppliments that should be taken at least four hours apart from your thyroid meds as they can interfer with the absorbtion of your levo.

Sorry to chip in but thank you! I never realised you had to take supplements separately. I was taking the thyroid meds and vit d etc in the morning all together and then another dose of T3 at night by itself.

Is it really a big problem to take them all together (Im just wondering if thats why I havent felt too good recently) or is it just a subtle difference?

No it can have quite a big inpact depending on what suppliments you are taking. I think if you train yourself into a routine of having nothing except water 2 hours before and 2 hours after thyroid meds you wont go wrong.

If you are taking iron or calcium (which includes milk) then leave it for 4 hours. I often had a glass of milk just before bedtime (which is when I take my meds) until my endo showed me the error of my ways.lol.

Can you afford to have a private one done - I think they are about £25. It really would be better to see if you actually need to suppliment VitD before you do as the more VitD your body has the more calcium it makes and if you are taking vitd when you dont need it you could end up with painful gall stones.

I take levothyroxine and vitamin d. Levothyroxine in the morning with 8 ounces of water and vitamin d in the evening. If you take both at the same time the levothyroxine get cancelled out says my dr.
