Why am I needing so much sleep?

This is not a problem I have had before. I have always been a bit of an insomniac. I never had the usual teenage years of sleeping til midday or at least 10am. I have always been an early riser.

Lately I have been tired enough to go to bed at 9:30 and I struggle to get up at 6:30, even with a Lumie clock that has a dawn simulator. I feel like I could sleep another couple of hours given half the chance. It is really weird having always been someone who didn't sleep much.

I don't know if this is something to do with switching to NDT and feeling generally much better (still a way to go but greatly improved). It is very strange though.

Also I was wondering if doing something similar to CT3M might help with the getting up in the morning, i.e. setting my alarm for 5am, taking my morning dose and then getting up as usual at 6:30.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I just want to sleep until 10am and I'm not allowed (work would have something to say about that, lol!)

Many thanks

Carolyn x

Have you had your iron levels checked recently?

I haven't since the summer. I shall go and get them checked. I will also start the Spatone again. I do tend towards low iron if I don't supplement. I suppose that could be it :)

Maybe you're turning into a dormouse? :D

That could explain all the hair regrowth....

maybe your adrenals are now getting better and they are 'screaming' for extra sleep in order to make the last bit of recovery. Just don't worry and get as much sleep as you can x

ps I also 'have to' get up at 6am, always go to bed at 9:30pm

That makes sense. It is a good sleepy feeling I have. I actually want to sleep and it feels nice when I can lie in a little longer at the weekend (kids permitting!). That's much better than the "I'm so tired I can't get up but I don't want to be in bed either because I can't sleep" kind of feeling that I had on levo.

thyroid hormonal imbalance lead to memory and sleep disorders. Check your thyroid hormone level.

I also have to get up at 6 oclock every morning and tend to get tired at around 9ish - its easy to blame everything on thyroid issues but I think mine could be as simple as my age (53) catching up on me.
