Shopping on-line to raise money...

As many of you are aware, this forum is run by the thyroid charity Thyroid UK and their website can be found here thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/index.... It has news, information, advice, case studies, lending library and many more useful pages.

Many of us these days shop on-line and today I was reminded of something I haven't done since doing my Christmas shopping. Did you know that, while shopping on-line, you can raise money for Thyroid UK at no cost to yourself?

Just click on one of these links, search for and select your charity (Thyroid UK), click on your chosen retailer and shop, shop, shop!

The retailers listed will donate a certain amount to Thyroid UK (some more than others) if you go to their site through these links, thus helping Thyroid UK to keep providing their wonderful help. These retailers include places such as Amazon, Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and so on.

What's to lose? No pressure or anything; every little bit helps :)

Thanks for listening.

Thanks for the reminder Carolyn. I use Amazon a lot and am actually quite fanatical about going through TUK's Amazon link for everything I buy. But have to admit to being somewhat lax about remembering to use the other links, probably because I don't do as much online shopping through other places! I really should try to get into the habit though, because as you've said, what's to lose? And the answer is of course, I lose nothing and TUK can gain :)

How to shop at Amazon through Thyroid UK's affiliate link:

1) Click on the link below, then when your browser takes you to the Amazon page, immediately save it as a bookmark. From then on, make sure you go through your bookmark every time you buy something through Amazon.

amazon.co.uk/?&tag=thuk...;

2) Go to the Thyroid UK website thyroiduk.org and put your search term into the little Amazon search box on the left hand side of every page (underneath the pink menu).

When you see the item you want, make sure to add it to your shopping basket straight away, even if you don't want to buy it now. That way, if you go back to your basket at a later date and decide to buy the item, it will still earn a few pennies for Thyroid UK.

I didn't know about the other Amazon bookmark thingy. I will have to have a look.

One of the problems with using this technique, is that it only works as long as you stay on the same page. So, if for example, you go through your bookmark, then view items in a 'new window, or 'new tab', it won't have the affiliate link embedded.

What I've got into the habit of doing, is waiting until I've made a decision on the actual product, then copy the ASIN number from the page (it's found under the Product Details heading), pop it into the TUK Amazon search box and then click the buy button.

Sounds a bit complicated i know, but it's the only way I can be sure I've gone through the affiliate link :D
