yes yes yes sorry, but I have high antibodies which is suggestive of a Automune D and have the most horrendious smptoms even when my bloods ( thyroid) have been normal. The antibodies confirm Hashi, graves D, which is Autommunity.

Im looking into this at the min, some people have a small level of antibodies but its when they are elevated that they start attacking the sytem.

why do you ask?

What were the actual details of the thyroid blood test? 'Normal' isn't an acceptable answer when it comes to thyroid problems, and especially not when you're concerned about miscarriage.

Please contact the surgery and request the actual thyroid test numbers, then come back here and tell us.

You could ask your GP for a blood test to check if you have antibodies, there is research going on about the effects of thyroid antibodies on pregnancy outcomes.

The British Thyroid Foundation are carrying out a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial looking at the role of thyroid antibodies in miscarriage, click on this link for info;

They are investigating to see whether Levothyroxine reduces the risk of miscarriage in women who have thyroid antibodies even though their thyroid hormones are in the normal range.

If you click this link you can visit the Birmingham University, Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit to see the info there. They are carrying out the trial. It does say that a systematic review of literature has found that thyroid antibodies are associated with miscarriage and pre-term births.

It is important for you to get this checked if you are considering further pregnancies.

It would be helpful to get your thyroid test results along with the reference ranges and post on the forum. It is possible to have in range TSH and still have high thyroid antibodies.

Hope that this helps you - Maddie

I've been wondering about this as I have Graves and had a thyroidectomy but still have high antibodies but bloods are good and i generally feel lots better but wondering if the antibodies can be making me feel hypo at times/ flaring up symptoms even though i don't have a thyroid, i can't find any info on this though. I eat a couple of Brazil nuts a day which gives me the selenium. x

I have hashimotos and when my thyroid first packed in (around age 6) i had no physical symptoms, except a goitre, a persistant cough and no appetite. I wasn't even tired, I was doing a lot of gymnastics training and had no problem. As a result it was a long time before I was diagnosed and treated!
