Update on Armour and other observations

After many false starts and after advice from people on here I persisted with 1/4 grain of Armour on alternate days as previous attempts had given me all sorts of side effects.

This time I seemed to tolerate it but just before Christmas, after taking it for about 2 months, I was feeling exhausted. I put this down to Christmas preparations but after Christmas day was over I wondered if I needed to up my dose. As previously when I was on Levothyroxine I also had exhaustion when I was on too high a dose so I decided to reduce the dose first.

I didn't take any for 5 days and the exhaustion went. The other thing that happened was I lost weight due to the loss of fluid. I hadn't realised that I had fluid retention until then. Also the stiffness reduced which I think must have been caused by the fluid.

Now I am taking 1/4 grain every third day to see how am with that. It is such a small dose but if I just take Nutri Thyroid I still get Hypo symptoms.

It has taken me 11 months to get to a reasonable dose of Armour and I still have many symptoms so I think recovery must be very slow in some people. I also found if I waited too long before an increase all my symptoms became worse and also if I increased too quickly. Some times I just persevered with bizarre symptoms eg had very swollen painful kneecaps when I reached 3 grains but just disappeared a few weeks later. It is a long hard journey.
