Thanks for that. An interesting read.

My father-in-law is in hospital after surgery yesterday for a blocked coronary artery. He is also hypothyroid but claims levo gives him perfect health, for his age (78). I do wonder though. He eats a very healthy diet and is very active. I can't help thinking that his arteries continuing to clog despite all this might be thyroid related. He is on statins to keep his cholesterol down but I can't help thinking that perhaps better thyroid treatment might sort that out without the need for statins. I don't know; perhaps I'm just in a particularly sceptical mood today ;)

He also has a tendency to become very anaemic and they can't find the reason why. This makes me wonder about his thyroid too. His GP is ancient and doesn't seem to be that good but he doesn't want to switch, even though he has to walk to the next town to see him, purely because he knows him. Personally I think that this can sometimes make a GP complacent about a patient whereas a new doctor might see something that has been missed.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. It is a very interesting article and just shows how important proper thyroid function is!

See Dr Mercola on statins. He believes they are dangerous drugs and almost always unnecessary. They are linked to causing type 2 diabetes and are probably more likely to cause heart problems. One of their side effects is that besides lowering cholesterol, they lower CoQ10, which is necessary for energy production All the research and development is carried out by Pharma, Statins are Pharma's cash cows. They don't prevent heart disease, cancer or anything else, in spite of glowing reports in the press by ignorant journalists taken in by Pharma's PR and who are not able to interpret the results of the so-called 'gold standard' double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trials.

Dear Carolyn, my father died six years ago after being discharged from a hoaspitl where he had multiple tests to find out why he suffered from extreme anaemia. After one day at home he died and a post mortem showed that he had an aortic aneurism, which had burst due to the effort of being home alone and having to care for himself!

I hope you can understand that I am only telling you about this so you can perhaps take any needed action, before it is too late.
