What can I do about my itchy skin?

I have been told that my itchy skin is probably due to my Hashimoto's. Something to do with the liver.

It comes and goes but I am mainly itchy around my feet, legs, arms and hands.

Any advice?

It is worth trying the various oral antihistamines available over-the-counter. Maybe Cetirizine, Chlorphenamine, and Loratadine - not all at the same time! But people find sometimes one works, sometimes another, and switching around might help.

Don't go mad - despite being regarded as fairly safe, it is usually a bad idea to take more of any medicine than you need.

This might also help to prove that the itch is indeed being caused by an excess of histamine. And inded that can be related to Hashimoto's.

could it be candida symptoms? (yeast infection)

you could try a course of Lufenuron, quite 'innocent' and cheap and if it wasn't candida then never mind....no harm done....

The itch is like tiny needles. It doesn't happen every day but when it happens it is VERY itchy. Around the ankles and legs is the worst area.

It only happens now and again.

Hi I also have hashi's, I get very itchy skin at times and am also very prone to ringworm (fungal skin infection), haven't found that any prescribed creams or anti histamines help at all but I spent over two years training (full-time) in aromatherapy, I now make my own creams and lotions to help with my various problems, the one I love the most is my chilblain cream.....it really works, takes the heat, pain insane itchyness away and then prevents me getting any more :)

I would recommend finding a local qualified & fully insured aromatherapist who is experienced with making individual creams & lotions (not all do, some just specialise in aromatherapy massages), the best way to find one is to look at websites such as the FHT (federation of holistic therapies) or the IFPA (international federation of professional aromatherapists), these both have lists of registered therapists and will be more than happy to help you find someone who can help you :)

Thanks for that. I don't think there will be anyone specialised in this where I live but I will have a good look.
