Thyroxine Daily Dose

Just a quick I suppose survey question, what is the amount of Thyroxine you take on a daily basis? I take 300mcg which I believe is quite a high dose. Many thanks

Hi Barney, 300mcg is a high amount for the NHS to prescribe - mostly they don't like giving more than 200mcg. That's not to say it's too much - it may mean that you are not absorbing all of the levo - there are various reasons for non absorption.

When I had my thyroidectomy, they put me onto 200mcg straight away but it was too much for me because I had been underactive for some time and they didn't realise.

Hi Barney, I'm taking 200mcg and think I need more or some T3 but the NHS doctors are not willing to even try.

Went a NHS endo and said that they would be inclined to reduce it when I get older (50ish)...
