Accuweather.com when I selected daily.... I'm hoping it's a glitch!

I've selected various places across the UK and they all say the same 🌧️🌧️🌧️

I tend to look at Met Office forecast, which doesn't mention it... yet.

I suppose if its wet we won't be needing the heating πŸ˜…another winter spent in wellies

This is why I will never understand people who say they like or even love, autumn. I think it's a dreary slow death and harbinger of worse to come. Looks like we are going to need good boots this year. Really happy that my thyroid swollen feet will not fit into any of mine and I'm still in flip-flops. I shall have to adopt the post office workers attitude that skin dries faster than clothing and keep my legs and feet bare. At least with the neuropathy I can't tell if my feet are wet/dry, hot/cold.

No neither do i, i loath the Autumm and winter full stop, i lock myself away and get more depressed than ever, and after this terrible summer its no wonder people are so down.

FancyPants54 profile image
FancyPants54 in reply to secrets22

Yes, this slow and stuttering spring and summer has not helped any of us. I have so many totally green tomatoes. There's only so much chutney I can cope with. We've pickled some this year, as if they were onions. Not sure what they will be like.

The lack of light is crushing to those of us who hate winter. I live in a lovely cottage. It's very snug and cosy. People think I should love winter. But actually cosy usually means not enough light through the small windows and the low ceilings means we don't have enough overhead light either. Seeing to do anything in the long dark hours is getting harder to cope with. To top it off I've developed a fear of the dark that I never had before menopause and now I dread waking up and realising it's not going to be light for 4 more hours or so.

There's nothing we can do about it though.

And here’s another! Just wondering whether we thyroidites are actually affected by the weather - or is this just a bit of light entertainment? Lol 🌈

Keep taking the Vit D supplements and enjoy the sunshine between the showers and dance in the puddles

Nope, we have lots of forecast rain but heavily interspersed with good days, even sun β˜€οΈ. You obviously live in the wrong place E. Can you not do your rowing on the edge of the SE?

44 days of rain, bad though it sounds, seems as nothing compared to this.

Can't get mine out of the door if the ground is the tiniest bit damp. 🐢🐾

I have seen that the Met Office is predicting a wet autumn and winter, with warnings for floods. And we had over a month's rainfall on Sunday with widespread flooding and disruption. But that seems like scaremongering to me. Lets be honest the weather forecasting often cant predict the next hour let alone two months away 🀣

TiggerMe profile image

Nasty feeling that storm Helena might be the culprit, but like you say we might duck it 😬

I'll take rain over 40 degree heat any day though. I think there's something to be said for the cosy season, but appreciate I might be in a minority lol.

Jingley profile image
Jingley in reply to Sparklingsunshine

I'm with you there Sparkly. Love Spring, love Autumn, not too keen on being too cold in Winter, absolutely detest Summer heat.

FancyPants54 profile image
FancyPants54 in reply to Sparklingsunshine

I don't want heat. But I need light. I can't cope with the darkness of winter. It's already getting too dark for me.

I love Autumn too Sparklingsunshine , but that much rain is certainly not good for my Arthritis.

Fruitandnutcase profile image
Fruitandnutcase in reply to Sparklingsunshine

I like autumn too but I prefer a dry autumn with crisp fresh air and leaves that you can kick - not this rain and damp. My body wasn’t designed for damp weather.

Saying that we have managed a decent dry walk at some point every day this week although we sat under shelter and had a coffee today while it rained and there was a thunder clap in the distance, we didn’t get wet though.

StitchFairy profile image
StitchFairy in reply to Fruitandnutcase

Couldn't agree more, Autumn just ain't what it used to be!

nooneimportant profile image

although not always convenient I don’t mind the rain - I still go for my daily walks - did one this morning with a neighbour walking her dog and laughed at each other for looking like drowned rats when we returned home - but I find things to compliment it ie I don my wellies and walk to the woods and stand under the trees and listen to it hitting the leaves, I like to watch it making ripples in puddles, I’ll open the back door and listen to it hitting the ground, it can be quite therapeutic and let’s face it it’s not like we ain’t waterproof πŸ˜‚πŸŒ§οΈ

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMe in reply to nooneimportant

I'm with you for the most part, it's when it's wind assisted aspect that makes me frown as it feels like more of a battle.... I think we need to rename winter as the mild rainbow season πŸ™ƒ

Walking in the rain is supposed to be really beneficial to your health. Something about the soil releasing stuff into the air when it gets wet. β˜”

Had a rough morning, this has had me in stitches, thank you one and all. Here is my normal weather:

It rained and rained and rained and rained

the average was well maintained

And when the fields were simply bogs

It started raining cats and dogs.

After a drought of half and hour

There came a most refreshing shower

And then the queerest thing of all

A gentle rain began to fall.

Next day was pretty fairly dry

Save for a deluge from the sky

This wetted people to the skin

But after that the rain set in.

We wondered what's the next we'd get

As sure as fate we got more wet,

But soon we'll have a change again

And we shall have a drop more rain.

Pretty accurate for here, but as it is mostly rock it rolls back into the sea. Cheers one and all.
