Anyone have any information on this subject. I have been taking Levothyroxine since 1980s all different dosages but mostly over 100mcg. 2 years ago diagnosed with Afib and been having problems getting betablocker and Thyroxine levels sorted.

Often tachycardia can be related to low ferritin levels. Thisis common in hypothyroidism due to poor absorption of vitamins.

Do you have any thyroid results to share with us? This helps people advise you.

Have you had levels of ferritin, folate, B12 and D3 checked?

Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

ESSENTIAL to maintain optimal vitamin levels

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease

20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Afib can be linked to low thyroid levels…..not just high thyroid levels

Atrial fibrillation can occur with low Ft3 or low Ft4

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/175...

60 patients (22.4%) had low FT3 levels (<2 pg/ml) and 24 patients (9%) had low FT4 levels (<0.9 ng/dl).
