Almus Levothyroxine 100mg ATA**** Batch Numbers

Happy New Year to all members.

I usually get Almus boxed Levothyroxine with is actually Accord brand inside whic has batch numbers TA****. I stay away from batch numbers starting ATA as these are test batches, strangely enough if I get Accord and boxed as Accord I have never seen anything But TA. As anyone else come across this.

I realise that test batches are still valid but I am very OCD with medication brands. I will ask for Accord and hopefully get just TC letters.

I always have Accord brand, have for many years. Batch numbers are TA for 50mcg and TC for 100 without fail.

I have had ATA and ATC batch numbers under Accord brand so you can't be sure you wont get one of them.

Thanks seasideSusie,

Always having Accord as in packaged Accord as well? If Have you ever noticed any physical symptoms when using the ATA & ATC batches? I have been reluctant to use these in the past.

Yes, always packaged Accord, it's stipulated on record at pharmacy. Not noticed any difference when using ATA or ATC.

Presumably testing a batch and it being released means that it meets the requirement of the particular medication, so surely there wouldn't be any question about an ATA or ATC batch?

Thanks, I might have to give them a go.

Could I ask if you obtain your Accord thyroxine from Boots (Almus brand) or Lloyds (Accord in box)? And if it is better for Accord to be written boldly on box? i.e not repackaged from manufacturer. Or are all Accord repackaged?

I seem have a batch I have not reacted good to.

Thank you

My Accord is from my local Rowlands pharmacy and is always packaged Accord.

And if it is better for Accord to be written boldly on box? i.e not repackaged from manufacturer.

It is written on the box who makes the tablets, it's also written on the foil back of the blister pack and the patient information leaflet. I can't see what benefit there is for it to be made bolder. The different pharmacies obviously want their own branding .

Or are all Accord repackaged?

Accord Levothyroxine is dispensed as the following brands in 100mcg and 50mcg only:

Accord

Almus (repackaged for Boots)

Northstar (repackaged for Lloyd's Pharmacy)

If you have Northstar 25mcg then that is made by Teva and many members have adverse reactions to Teva brand Levothyroxine .

If you are currently taking 75/100 how is the 75 made up? Is it a 75mcg tablet (only Teva make those) or 50mcg plus 25mcg tablets or what? Accord don't make 25mcg tablets under any branding.

Do you mean this reply:

This is more bold (Accord name). On the Boots box it is in small print on the side.

I wonder if this is not repackaged and if this makes a difference in any.

I'm not sure what you mean by the last sentence.

Accord Levothyroxine is repackaged, I've explained this above, Accord is available as three "brands", all the same tablet just different boxes/names.

Accord dispensed as Accord brand.

Accord repackaged as Almus brand.

Accord repackaged as Northstar brand.

And even though  thyreoidea hasn't had any test batches boxed as Accord, I certainly have

Yes always get Levothyroxine from Boots which is usually boxed as Almus which is something to do with Boots, but sometimes it is Accord. Almus is the actual box, they do not produce any pharmaceuticals but just box them up , the contents are actually Accord Levothyroxine, you can get Accord Levothyroxine which is boxed as such and of course contains Accord if that makes sense.

I have no specific knowledge but I would be surprised if Accord didn't simply switch the roll of card going into the packaging machine. So they can switch from Accord to Almus to Northstar by a simple switch.

I simply cannot imagine Accord sending bare blister packs to Almus or Northstar to be put into boxes. That would need those companies to have machinery for handling that process for all the products they "repackage".

I agree that would make sense although the batch numbers can be wildly different, maybe they have certain ones allocated to each company who packages them. As my previous post, I have never personally had any batch numbers for Accord boxed Levo that were test batches, maybe coincidence?

This box contained Accord.

My boxes are from Boots (Almus Brand). I always received Accord (orange &!white box) through my local chemist. I then started to get the medication from Boots (Almus brand) and I am trying to work out if the reaction I have had is because of this and a faulty batch, even though I understand all are Accord.

Thanks for raising this. Because of a few mishaps (my own fault) I have become much more aware of issues with brands. For the first time since I started, that I am aware of, I have been sent Accord. As I get them delivered I cannot return them. This post has given me some reassurance that I can take them. I know it’s not what your post was about but it’s funny how everybody’s experience and knowledge can be useful in the most unexpected ways.

Hi arTistapple,

Glad I have been of help, as you say sometimes reading others posts gives you information and also at times reassurance. Was it the fact Almus contains Accord that helped?
