Experiences With The New Batches Of Thyroid S?

β€’34 Replies

Hi Folks,I am curious to hear of people's experiences of taking the new batches of Thyroid S. both good and bad. Any batches where the grains are a greeny colour, and harder in texture, but definitely the latest ones.

Thanks, appreciate your thoughts 😊.

MapleMoose, there was a post about this recently. Might be of interest healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

in reply to RedApple

Yes, thank you. I am just intrigued to see if there are others who have experienced changes in this NDT.

Have you checked RELATED POSTS, to the top right of page if on a PC, you'll probably have to scroll down on another device.

Yes, SeasideSusie, thanks. Just wondering if there is an increasing trend in changes to the product either good or bad.

From what I've read some people are unhappy with the current Thyroid-S and think maybe something has changed. I don't use it so no personal experience to pass on I'm afraid.

in reply to SeasideSusie

Yes, it's certainly changed, but how is a good question. The manufacturer deny anything is different, but you can see just by looking at it and tasting it. I gather that you're on Levo/T3? Do you have any advice or suggestions on how to prevent weight gain on Levothyroxine? I switched from Levo years ago due to weight issues since being on it after diagnosis. I never had weight issues prior to that. I then switched to Thyroid S and that helped me loose any weight I gained on the Levo monotherapy. Since the Thyroid S change, it now gives me dreadfully painful pressure headaches with elevated BP. I came off it for a little while to get some relief, but now my levels are low and barely in range. They were always on the upper end on Thyroid S. I may have to ditch Thyroid S all together, but I am afraid of the weight gain and fatigue I had with Levo. I've tried T3 only for a short while, but even a minute dose of 6mg is all I seem to tolerate. Weight gain, may be a minor side effect for some, but for me, it's a big deal.

Yes, Levo and T3 for me, I tried NDT 20 odd years ago, it just didn't do it for me. I'm afraid I can't help with weight gain on Levo, fortunately I've not had that. I can gain weight easily when I'm pigging out and I'd much rather eat cake, chocolate, and all the naughty things, but as I know what makes me put weight on I'm as careful as can be and limit them as far as possible.

in reply to SeasideSusie

We all like pigging out once in a while. I am presuming the T3 helps you with the weight maintenance as well.

I would live on all the wrong things if I could, who needs a main course when you can have pudding/chocolate/cake 🀣

No, T3 has had no influence on my weight. As long as I eat OK my weight was stable on Levo alone and is stable on Levo plus T3, T3 has never prompted weight loss. I got up to 31.25mcg at one time, no weight loss, now I am settled on 18.75mcg.

Yes, I am proud of myself today, I avoided the sale on the 1kg Dairy Milk bars at the supermarket πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. DM is my weakness, so when I'm feeling crappy, which is more often than not over the last couple of months, I just want to curl up and relish in that.... but of course that doesn't help things. One must have some comfort from time to time though πŸ˜…πŸ€£. Re T3, according to Westin Childs that will fix weight gain issues with Levothyroxine. His videos exhaust me with all that he says and the trillions of recommendations he gives πŸ€ͺπŸ˜„.

Westin Childs was an osteopath and now he's a supplement salesman. He might have something interesting to say but I don't bother much with websites where the sole aim is selling supplements, doesn't sit well with me I'm afraid.

Hey maplemoose are you from Canada? I'm in the US and have been taking TS for six months the batch is 22012 it taste sweet, I chew the tablets let them slightly dissolve then swollow. I feel great but now that it's winter I do feel I need to up my dose a bit. What batches are you talking about? Is this the latest batch? I wanted to see if they had some of the same batch I have since I feel good on it.

in reply to tahoetwilight

Hiya tahoetwilight (lovely username by the way). No I am from the UK, but lived in the U.S for a while, as did Canada. I am on the same batch as you, which is the latest batch. It's great to hear you're doing really well on it. I'm the opposite, where it's given me severe headaches and fatigue. I did better on the older batches. I know of someone else who hasn't felt well on it either, so it's good to hear that you are, and it's not a complete dud treatment product. Thanks for sharing.

HI Maplemoose. I started new batch which are green about 5 weeks ago. I quickly had to reduce dose from 2.5 , old batch, to 1.5 . I had very high heart rate of 96 , shaking and tremors. I gradually worked my way up to 1.5, dose i am at now. I think the green ones are stronger. I still have some symptoms like feeling achy neck that goes away by the afternoon. I will try increase 1/4 in another week. So sorry to hear all your troubles with the new green thyroid s. My batch is 22006. received in july. .Best wishes that you get return to feeling well

in reply to mintgreenish

Thank you mintgreenish. I think my symptoms are probably because they're stronger. All the best tweeking your doses too.

I'm in a WhatsApp group started when there was a shortage of Thyroid-S, but often now we discuss the latest batches. One person had a batch which she wasn't feeling well on, then noticed a difference for the better with her latest batch, which is 22012, the one you're having problems with. Whatever's going on is a bit of a puzzle! I've been taking 21089 for some weeks and am fine on it.

in reply to Framboise

Well, that's interesting. I am in the menopause, not using HRT. so perhaps it's due to my lady hormones being out of whack. It could be a lot stronger, as it gives me bad headaches and high blood pressure. I had 1 1/4 grains this morning and I had an awful headache for most of the day. It's worn off somewhat now, so it must be related. It's good that Thyroid S is not totally useless then. Thanks for the info.

I can only think that the balance of ingredients has changed, as it did with Armour. The formula wasn't altered but they decreased something and added more cellulose, I believe, so some people weren't able to utilise it as they had done. But that doesn't explain the colour of some of the new Thyroid-S!

in reply to Framboise

Yes, it's strange. I have just taken 1/2 grain this morning to monitor how I feel. If that gives me a headache, the new formula must not be for me.

in reply to Framboise

I wonder what the make up of the cellulose is, if it is gluten or soya based, I have a problem. I did contact the manufacturer in the past to give me a full list of ingredients, but got no response which is very questionable for a pharmaceutical company. No wonder NDT is deemed dodgy in the medical world.

Framboise profile image
Framboise in reply to

According to STTM it's Avicel, which is derived from wood pulp. It's supposed to be gluten free but have a look here: stopthethyroidmadness.com/a... This list though is very old! Did you get a headache today?

Also how do you take them, do you chew them or swallow them whole?

in reply to Framboise

Wood Pulp 😳, wow! Very strange, the thought of ingesting wood pulp doesn't thrill me to be honest πŸ˜›. Anyways, I took half a grain this morning, no headache, another half in the afternoon, no headache, and I've not long had another half, and so far nothing major, just a little bit of niggling dullness in my head. I think 1.5 grains will be my limit and that will have to be over 3 doses. If the dullness doesn't get worse, and I have the same experience tomorrow, I may have had a little bit of a break through 🀞🀞🀞. I am not celebrating yet, and I will have to see what my levels are in a few weeks time at that dose. Maybe 1.25 grains would have been a safer bet today. I tend to be a little impulsive, which isn't good with all this thyroid malarkey. Just in desperation to feel more than just rubbish all the time.

Maybe you can try adding some t4 to your thyroid s, that way you dont have to increase it

in reply to Imaaan

Thanks, I may do that if I can't increase it anymore.

My Thyroid s latest batch was the same number and it's changed from beige, to shiny and green it no longer works for me after being on it for over seven years. I became very ill after using the previous one too. When opening the bottle it always had a definate smell now it hasn't. I am now on Levo plus T3

Framboise profile image
Framboise in reply to Brightness14

Do you know the batch number of your previous ones? It's so odd that only a few people are reporting problems, but that their problems are major ones. I know that the manufacturer removed the papaya taste which could have impacted the smell I suppose. How do you take them, do you chew them or swallow them whole?

Brightness14 profile image
Brightness14 in reply to Framboise

I have the batch numbers here. The old one which worked as usual was TA21015 and arrived in July 2021. The first batch x 2 which never worked were both TA 22006 these arrived in July 2022. I then ordered another batch just to check from a different supplier TA 22012 arriving 12 Nov 2022. All three of the newest batches never worked. I noticed straight away that they looked different, Shiny, Greenish and harder. I have been using Thyroid s for over seven years. These don't work for me now I am so annoyed having to start again. I am now trying Levo plus T3. I always took 2.25 grains everyday. 1.25 at 6am and 1 at 1.30pm and my FT3 was always around 6.00 plus after taking the batch TA22006 for forty days and feeling ill and falling over I had another blood test which was FT3 2.76. I never chewed them taking them with a glass of water only and away from food. I don't have any gut problems and no allergies.

I am on the same 21089 batch as you and seem to be ok, but have reduced my dose to half. 1 grain instead of 2.

Framboise profile image
Framboise in reply to Margo

That's interesting Margo thanks for letting me know. I have sometimes in the past reduced from 3.25 grains to 3, if I felt a bit wired, but to reduce by half is very significant. I do wish we could find out what has happened.

Are you feeling ok on the Levo/T3 now. Bearing in mind you are on a different Levo' to us here in the UK? My Batch 21089. I felt awful when I took my normal dose of grain x 2 split in 2 doses. Since the last week or so I have taken just 1 grain and seem to be doing better.
