Calculate percentages within range using a calculator and pen and paper

I saw a post that the percentages within range calculator wasn’t working?

I have set up a spreadsheet that calculate percentages within range, but I have no idea how to share it other than attaching to an email - suggestions please? But hopefully this post will help.

Percentages within range

In words, this is what I do 😊👍

Result minus Bottom of range

Divided by

Top of range minus Bottom of range

Then x 100

= percentages within range

Eg. Blue Horizon result

FT4 9.8 ug (7.9 - 14)

9.8 - 7.9

______________ x 100 = 31 %

14 - 7.9

I have a spreadsheet that you can literally plug in your numbers to without worrying about formulas - it just spits out the answer - It's just how to Share ??. I use Libre office which is a Microsoft compatible shareware. They ask for a contribution (I give a £10 per year), Its not as expensive or 'topheavy' as Microsoft, which slows my computer down with it's top heavy programming. Libre is similar to the older versions of office (and doesn't make my computer grind to a halt) 😂

I'm sure it's great. But I really can't help you there. I don't know how you can share it. You need helvella to the rescue! :D

You can also do a quick calculation with a calculator ( eg on mobile phone)

I can't take any credit, forgotten my maths lessons from back in the dark ages...my husband did it for me when the Polish site was down

x = (c- b) ÷ (a- b) x 100

Where -

a = top of range

b = bottom of range

c = actual value ( lab result)

x = % of value in range

Hi DippyDame

Snap! Lol! It is good to have the formula and be able to do it by hand (well plus calculator) isn’t it! 😊👍. I eventually incorporated it into a record sheet on a spreadsheet package (still got my bit of paper though!)

I hated maths at school the teacher for my first four years at comprehensive school terrified me. I spent lessons trying to stop fearful sweat rolling out of my shirt sleeves. Literally 😱

Thankfully I was put into another teacher’s class last year because I was struggling. He was great and that last year I blossomed. Fear stunts learning.

Sort waffling again! Night night 🥱😴
