I need help sorting my meds and levels, please!?

Horsecrazylady79 profile image

I've been trying to get my levels optimal for some time, however this last year has really set me on a wobble, my grandad with whom I had a particularly close relationship with, became very poorly, I nursed him through his last months and this put enormous stress on myself and children as I was rarely at home, always at my Nans. My grandad passed away in August, we laid him to rest in September and I have been working through his affairs for my Nan as she just hasn't been able to deal with it.

As well as Hashimotos, I suffer from Addisons Disease, needless to say I suffered a couple of Addisons Crisis' during this last year, and right now I know my levels are way off because I am back to sleeping for days- literally! Sometimes I can sleep for 23 hours, get up use the bathroom and back to sleep for another 20 odd hours. I've had bloods done, including vitamin levels, all taken as advised onthis wonderful forum. The only one I haven't had done which I will need to get done is my cortisol level. My old GP refused to do them, I've now moved surgery as we had so many issues at that surgery- even two of the partners walked out, no warning!! I also moved last july and I am yet to see an endo up here (I'm 50 miles from my old home and in a different health board.)

I'll attach my most recent bloods, I had two lots done a few weeks apart. I'd also love some help on when to take all the meds I am on as I think some are interfering with others, if anyone can help there, I would be very grateful. I had my life back on track not 18 months ago, but a bad break up, a major move and a huge loss has got me right back to square one, and I don't want to be here anymore 💔 😢

I have removed the image from your second post because it shows your name and date of birth near the bottom of the page which leaves you vulnerable to identity theft. Feel free to repost without your personal details showing.

Presumably your T3 is prescribed

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Which brand

Which brand of T3

Have you tried splitting T3 into 3 smaller doses - eg 1/2 tablet waking, 1/4 tablet mid afternoon and 1/4 at bedtime

(Might even be worth experimenting with largest dose at bedtime….eventually)

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

B12 and vitamin ok

Folate is deficient

Are you currently taking any vitamin B complex?

As you have Hashimoto’s are you on absolutely strictly gluten free diet

If not, get coeliac blood test done before considering trial on strictly gluten free

Hi SlowDragon, Thank you for your reply, I've just checked my box, it says Northstar, and I used to have the Accord ones but since they reduced my dose from 150mg to 125mg, I've been on this one. My T3 has always been the same, MercuryPharma 20mg and yes it is prescribed.

I've not split it, no. Only when I'm due a blood test the following day.

The only vitamins I am currently taking is my B12 injections and my Vit D3&K2 spray. I've got the rest ready to go, my endo did mention I start taking DHEA too, and told me I could get it from a certain website, which I have done as you can see, but I haven't started those yet either, I want to make sure I'm taking them all at the right time, in the right way.

Northstar 25mcg is Teva

Northstar 50mcg and 100mcg are Accord

Accord don’t make 25mcg tablets. Get Accord 50mcg tablets and cut in half

Teva brand upsets many people

Suggest you trial splitting T3 everyday.

Strictly gluten free diet does need to be strictly gluten free.

It takes weeks/months for gut to recover from eating any gluten

How would you suggest taking my other meds, do I need to be aware of taking any away from my T4 or T3? I also take a D3/K2 spray and ive just picked up an iron spray too?

I'm ok to take these at any time as they are sprays, I'm right in thinking that?

I'll see if I can switch the levo brands when my next monthly is due and I'll begin splitting the T3 straightaway. Thank you for your advice, it is always appreciated 😊

The mouth sprays are absorbed in mouth….so in theory not a problem

I would still take 1-2 hours away from levothyroxine minimum

T3 is absorbed much quicker, so less important to leave such length of time

Thank you SD, looking at my FT4 & FT3 results, would you say that my doses of both seem ok? I don't remember how to work out the ranges, sorry for the endless questions, my brain is mush lately, I am just not able to concentrate these days for longer than 5 minutes before I begin to nod of sitting up!!

You don’t have any recent Ft4 and Ft3 test results

Suggest you trial taking T3 as 3 smaller split doses at roughly equal 8-12 hours for minimum 6-8 weeks

Then get tested via Monitor My Health

TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 £26.10

Only do test early Monday or Tuesday morning

Always test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Last 1/3rd of daily dose T3 approx 8-12 hours before test

And try to be absolutely strictly gluten free always

Thanks SD, attached are my most recent results.

My recent FT4 results are 15.3pmol/L (11-25) and FT3 is 5pmol/L (3.1-6.8)

To me my FT4 looks to be low and my FT3 around middle- ish, though I could be way off.

I don't convert very well as was discovered by the lovely Proff Wass! If it wasn't for him I'd still be in a hell of a mess as no one was listening to me with regard to how utterly miserable and poorly I was feeling!!

When he sorted me out, vitamins minerals, meds and all, I stared to feel human again, now I'm stood here trying to type this, holding on to the kitchen counter, shaking and trying to stop myself just falling asleep I know that if I do fall asleep here, I will literally knock myself out as I go down, I hate how my life has changed like this.

Apologies for rambling and moaning, I just don't know what else to do!? Thank you

Oh sorry, yes I am gluten free for the most part, I don't eat bread, eat fresh foods where I can, fresh veg, meat, fruits etc, if I do eat gluten it's pasta spaghetti if I can't get my usual gluten free ones
