Levels this time just into hyper about three weeks ago, started on 10mgs Carbimazole daily and propranolol 10mgs three times a day. I’m now feeling worse with a lot of nausea, heart feeling like it’s coming out my chest but not over fast, very emotional, exhausted, a bit breathless, headachy with some pain behind my eyes, and feeling like glands in neck are achy and of course the weakness and pain! I am going to get my bloods done again but is this usual? Really fed up.

The more times I relapsed the worse the symptoms, meds didn't work anymore. Also having Graves for so long has left me with heart problems.

I'm fine thyroid wise as I'm now hypo and well on Levo, however the heart probs are here to stay.
What heart problems do you have?
Heart block, atrial fibrillation, microvascular angina and supra ventricular tachycardia. I had a pacemaker fitted last year but now having problems getting meds right.
That’s awful and they’re certain it’s because of hyperthyroidism?
A definite contributing factor and it's flagged on my records. Interestingly my sister was also hyper from her teens same as me, she had a total thyroidectomy so was hypo from then and aged 61 she has no health problems at all. I had a partial thyroidectomy and continued to have Graves relapses until I was mid 40s when I had RAI. My other sister is also hypo and no health problems, no heart diseases in any of my extended family so it's pretty obvious being hyper since I was 12 has done a lot of damage !
Many of these symptoms are experienced with Graves’ disease.
Three weeks is not a great deal of time so your levels may still be too high.
When symptoms worsen or changes is important to inform doctor so they can arrange thyroid function test to ensure you levels are settling or moving in the right direction.
When you have started or resumed a medication they may also need to do further checks. Is you throat sore? You mentioned your glands are swollen this can indicate a concern when taking carbimazole.
Do you have a patient leaflet as this will list the signs to be vigilant for. Your doctor should arrange a full blood count (FBC) when developing certain signs. FBC will check your white cell count. Have the leaflet with you when to speak to or see the doctor.
Do you have a way to track your pulse. Trackers are great for keeping an accurate record over time. My pulse is good gauge of my levels.
You may be able to increase propranolol for the palpitations. 3 x 10mg is a very low dose. I was given 3 x 40mg initially.
Eye pain can come from eye strain and ordinary headaches, but you did mention your concern with TED. I found my high street optician helpful this regard, recommending eye drops and a letter supporting a referral.
Hi, I spoke with endo yesterday and when surgery opens on Tuesday to arrange more bloods. My glands aren’t swollen but the bits on your neck/throat just below the chin are achy. My white count was on the low side but gp said nothing to worry about. Don’t have a pulse checker. Endo said not to take any more propranolol though. Good idea to visit optician, thanks
Stopping propranolol abruptly is bad advice. How long have you been taking & was 3x 10mg your dose from the start?
I was quite ill after not being advised to reduce propranolol slowly. I had terrible migraine and GP told me to resume. Still take low dose as migraine preventer.
I’ve only had relapse since three weeks ago and then I started on propranolol again at this dose. When first diagnosed 30 months ago I started a higher dose but when the Carbimazole kicked in and symptoms and levels got better obviously propranolol was stopped but as levels were lower this time when I relapsed GP advised a lower dose of both meds.
