After all my posts over last few days endocrine nurse at local hospital has said she spoke to consultant and he has said nothing can be done via him just have to go via gp as they can offer no further treatment at hospital. So stuck on high T4 and doseage of thyroxine lowered gutted and feeling 😢

I can't imagine how gutted you must be feeling. I'd read through your posts over the last few days and felt that surely the Endo would see you based on that high FT4, but not supressed TSH. I'm kind of speechless at this outcome.

Hey there ;

Well the consolation is that " this heap " contains some dammed good forum members and we'll help you sort things out, as most of us are in there somewhere too :

Needless to say I'm disappointed for you and am sorry you haven't found any help within the NHS .

Thank you - no worries - I'm proud to be in this heap to hypos !!

Just looked at the very top of this rolling screen and there are now over 120 K people registered on the Thyroid UK website all looking for answers as to their thyroid health issues.

You are not alone and you will get the help and advice you need to help yourself.

I really feel for you sunsation1. Unfortunately it’s a postcode lottery out there and knowledgeable gps & pro active endocrinologists are a bit thin on the ground.

If my GP couldn't diagnose me when TSH was 100 and I was very, very unwell. He phoned to say there was nothing wrong with me. I cried. You can click on my name and it will take you to my page and you can read about my journey to be diagnosed.

Will do

With help/advice from many of our members (some know far more that the Endocrinolgosts and also GPs) we - the patient- have to take care of our thyroid gland hormones as they drive our whole system and brain and heart have the most T3 receptor cells. I doubt many GPs are aware of this fact.

T4 = an inactive hormone and should convert to T3 the active hormone.

At least now you know they won’t help you and so you can concentrate on helping yourself. It can be hard to go against half-hearted doctors. It’s easier if they just ignore you.

Have you done your own blood test and probably will have to take your treatment into your own hands like so many others… unbelievable that in 2021 medical is so bad.

I am so sorry. So many of us here have had similar experiences, and know just how you feel. I can just see the Consultant looking at your results and thinking "I have no idea what is going on here, so I will not see her". It is shattering when you pin your hopes on the "experts" and they let you down. It has taken me years to finally accept that they just dont care. This lack of care has definately got worse over time.
