Yes, it is off and on for me. Could be connected to SIBO due to hypothyroidism (low stomach acid).

Oh thank you so much, I didn't know that was a thing.

Tinnitus can be a symptom of low B12. Have you had all your nutrients tested:

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

Low nutrient levels are common when hypothyroidism is present.

I don't believe I have and as a vegetarian maybe I need to request these when bloods done in 2 weeks. Thank you😀

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

How long have you been vegetarian

EXTREMELY common when vegetarian to have very low B12, iron/ferritin unless really working hard all the time to maintain OPTIMAL vitamin levels

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Don’t start any B vitamin supplements before testing

Come back with new post once you get results

As vegetarian you will need to regularly retest vitamins

The present review of the literature regarding B12 status among vegetarians shows that the rates of B12 depletion and deficiency are high. It is, therefore, recommended that health professionals alert vegetarians about the risk of developing subnormal B12 status. Vegetarians should also take preventive measures to ensure adequate intake of this vitamin, including the regular intake of B12 supplements to prevent deficiency. Considering the low absorption rate of B12 from supplements, a dose of at least 250 μg should be ingested for the best results.3

Hi, my tinnitus began in March and I was diagnosed in May - I had no idea it was linked! I'm still in the early stages of taking Levo (started with 6 weeks on 50mcg/day, TSH has dropped from 88.8 to 10.9 and now on 75mcg/day before upping to 100mcg in a month) and it does seem better.

I've noted it's definitely worse during my period: womensinternational.com/blo...

Would highly recommend a white noise machine if it bothers you at night and get all your vits checked etc. I'm just waiting on mine. GP totally disinterested so sent off for private tests as recommended below!

No idea but might be worth trying?! Luckily my other half likes having the white noise machine on at night my tinnitus is a low, pulsating hum in my right ear so the machine drowns it out quite nicely 😂
