List of pharmacies that provide T3?

I'm sure somebody posted a list of pharmacies where you can get T3? I now have a hard copy private prescription for 5 micrograms of T3 - but don't know how to find a pharmacy? Message me if easier?

Thank you!

List of pharmacies where you can send your prescription on ThyroidUK's main website here:

Cheapest would seem to be Thybon Henning brand which is £1 per tablet and Roseway does this I believe, but that's for 20mcg tablets.

Ring round for best price but I think 5mcg tablets will be expensive.

Thank you for this. It appears the endo wrote the prescription for 5 mcg so I don't know if they'll dispense it in larger tablets for me to cut. This is turning out to be an education!

I think they have to dispense what's written on the prescription.

I think you’ll find that the 20mcg will work out cheaper. They’re probably the same price but you can cut them so they’ll last you four times longer.Just to let you know, I have just paid £220 for 28 Teva T3, 20mcg. I nearly fell off my perch. I think, if these actually suit me, I’ll be ringing around to see if I can get them cheaper. It’s just a pity that both the Greek and Turkish give me terrible side effects.

If anyone already knows where to get Teva cheaper, could you please PM me 😩

It’s enough to make a person hyperventilate (only my heart doesn’t do fast beating). I can just imagine reaching for a tablet n dropping in the duvet and having a melt down. What if it went up the hoover (I accidentally hoovered a Levothyroxine up the spout only they’re cheap as chips)

5mcg Sigma Pharma is approx £120 for 90 tablets

Far cheaper to be prescribed 20mcg tablets and cut into 1/4’s (5mcg)

Thybon Henning 20mcg tablets are £1 each

Hi SD, I got a message back from Roseway quoting me sigmapharma £100 per tablet. This is the quote from my email "Due to the way this prescription is written, we would only be able ti dispense the licensed liothyronine 5mcg, which comes to a cost of £145.00 per 28 tablets.

If you required the Sigmapharm (£100 per tablet) the prescription would need to be amended to specify either "lactose-free" or the brand name "sigmapharm"

I've asked if they can re-write the prescription. (But above doesn't sound right?)

£100 per pack of 90 tablets I would suspect they mean for Sigma Pharma

Morningside healthcare 5mcg T3 is £98 per 28 tablets

Hi SD, I’ve queried Roseways quote for sigmapharma (it doesn’t match what’s been mentioned), couldhve been a misspell on the email. where can u get morningside t3 at that price? (DM me?)

Morningside should be available most pharmacies. It’s the only U.K. licensed 5mcg T3

That’s the price NHS pays for it

Hi, just wanted to say with the prices discussed below you are better off buying a return flight to Greece, take your prescription with you and buy the medicine there. For 25 mcg it’s 2.60€ the packet. I am not sure how much is for 50 mcg but it’s something similar. Pharmacists there would likely accept your prescription from the U.K. and you can have a little holiday.

Which isn't very helpful at present for those in the UK.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) travel

It is illegal to travel abroad for holidays.

I’m having a chuckle here! Honestly these prices 😂

Yeah of course I don’t mean now, we all need to respect the COVID rules but hopefully in the near future we can go again on holidays. And my endocrinologist in Athens as most doctors do there if you ask them writes everything in English with the hope that my thyroid problem will be taken into account by my GP who kept refusing tests. Back in the day it wasn’t like that. I remember the good times that the GP would be allowed to be more considerate. By the way I am a British citizen.
