Pharmacy’s that supply Northstar 100mcg levo

Hi all, hope you’re all doing well.

Does anybody know of any pharmacy’s or online pharmacy’s that stock the Northstar brand of levothyroxine 100mcg. My endo has recently changed my medication to T4/T3 combination therapy and unfortunately I have allergic reactions with pretty much every other brand that I’ve tried including mercury pharma, and almus and accord apart from Northstar.

I had tried it a while back when my pharmacy stocked it and I was completely fine on it, but now they no longer stock it and I’ve called about 30 pharmacy’s in my local area, none of whom stock Northstar levo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated !:)

You need to ask for Accord levothyroxine.

Northstar is is a brand name that is used by Lloyds pharmacy, normally found in Sainsburys supermarkets. They supply levo manufactured by Accord (formerly Actavis) 50mcg & 100mcg and Teva levo 25mcg repackaged in their own boxes.

Boots Chemist do the same by repackaging Accord levo as their own Almus brand.

Northstar do not manufacture Levo tablets. they package brands made by other people Their 50 mcg and 100mcg tablets are made by Accord (formerly called Actavis) . Exactly the same tablets as in Accord boxes.

Their 25mcg tablet's are made by TEVA, (same tablets as in Teva boxes)

Also ..."Almus" tablets are just Accord 50/100mcg tablets boxed up for Boots and Alliance chemists.

the different manufacturers are:-

Mercury (Advanz). 23/50/100mcg.

Wockhardt. 25mcg.

Aristo. 100mcg.

TEVA .12.5/25/50/75/100 mcg.

Accord (formerly called Actavis) 50/100 mcg.

Hi,I get North star and Accord from my local Tesco Pharmacy. Sometimes they do try to persuade me to have Teva but I always refuse!

Good Luck

that's OK, as long as you understand that northstar 25mcgs are actually TEVA :)

Hi There, I have got the same problem with allergies to thyroxine. It took six years and a full day in 2013 at Southampton allergy clinic, where I was tested under placebo conditions to establish that I am allergic to all brands of thyroxine except: Actavis, Accord and Northstar. They are all EXACTLY the same otherwise I could not tolerate them, I was extremely ill with all other brands and had to call an ambulance on one occasion due to difficulty breathing. As the other messages state these brands are all common forms of levothyroxine, available at various pharmacies and please do not worry about the different names, they are the same and if I can tolerate them anybody can! Good Luck
