I have had quite a few symptoms of hypothyroidism lately and I have a family history so I decided to get checked, I told my gp my results and had another test done by them, in this test my t4 was 12 and the doctor said it was fine, im also low on b12 and vitamin D which I have been suplimenting for a while now, I still feel really run down, from what I have read online these results point to petuitary gland problems? Any information would be helpful, if it is because of that, I'm not sure how I go about approaching my doctor either, she isn't very pleasant lol, thank you in advance for any help
Low t4/ high t3: I have had quite a few symptoms... - Thyroid UK
Low t4/ high t3
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Exactly what vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamins last tested
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
