Red itchy blotches appear out of nowhere......one at a time, and then disappear while another one starts somewhere else. I know this is related to my Hashimoto's, but don't know what to do.

Does anyone have Hashimoto's Urticaria?
HeyI get those too, they usually appear on my back low down always in the same area, itchy and sore, in a circular cluster?
This started about 3 months ago and isn't getting any better. What do you do about it?
Hashimoto's is an autoimmune illness which affects the thyroid. It is related to an imbalance in the gut and when we have issues with the gut they can manifest in skin problems.

You need to address whatever is driving the autoimmunity. This could be stress, parasites, gut bacteria imbalance etc. Simply replacing low thyroid hormone with more hormones doesn't address the autoimmune response.
Yes, common link with Hashimoto’s
Often when under medicated
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine
When were levels last tested
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested
As you have Hashimoto’s have you had coeliac blood test done
Are you on strictly gluten free diet
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
If/when also on T3, make sure to take last third or quarter of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

I was diagnosed in 1987, and have been on Synthroid since then. I only take the actual brand. I am currently taking .137 mcg. Shortly after being diagnosed with Hashimoto's, I started having hives on my lower back and back of my neck. No one ever put two and two together, but a dermatologist had me try 10mg of hydroxyzine daily, and that took care of the hives. If I stop the hydroxyzine, I get the hives. I have taken this and been hive-free since 1988. Now, I suddenly 12 weeks ago started itching and scratching myself black and blue. It appears like a red patch...which will fade away, and a new one will appear in some other random area. Increasing my hydroxyzine has made no difference. I have had recent blood word which appears fine, and I take 2,000 in of D3 daily.

Hi one easy remedy for this is bicarbonate of soda you may have some in your kitchen cupboard? Half a teaspoon in a glass of water 2-3 times a day Your body is in a heightened state and needs to calm down are you on the contraceptive pill or hrt ? I ask bc estrogen is excititory whereas it's opposite hormone progesterone is calming ,
There are natural remedies such as GABA for calming down your system but ask your GP first
My daughter suffered badly with urticaria, would cover the whole of her top half in the morning but by the evening it was all over her lower body. Initially the gp decided to give her desensitising injections and antihistimine tablets which made her very drowsy and unable to concentrate. In the end I was recommended to a private allergist, who put her on strict exclusion diets and then gradually introduced foods etc., took a while but did the trick, she was allergic to a few things, which we then excluded from her diet. Now eats everything and is perfectly fine. He did say these things can often go in 7 year cycles and then clear up.
I have that when I take Teva thyroxine .
