Which folate results?

Hello all!

So the GP tested my folate which came back as 10.4 (3 - 18) which puts me at 49% through range.

My thriva results came back last week as 15 (8.83 - 60.8) which is only 12% through range.

So judging by the GP results folate would be about right but going by thriva I'm miles off optimal! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Which would you go with?

Thriva tests are processed County Pathology.

There have been a couple of instances recently which has caused members to question Medichecks results which are so processed by County Pathology.

How far apart were these tests done?

Do you take a B Complex or Biotin supplement which are known to give false results for blood tests when Biotin is used in the testing procedure (as County Pathology do as confirmed by Medichecks in the past) so we have to leave these supplements off for 7 days before any blood test.

In your position I would query your result with Thriva if the tests have both been done close together and no Biotin/B Complex taken in the days before the test. Ask them to explain the difference in the results.

Hi OforOnward, I'm soooo jealous - my NHS result was 2.3 (3.4-12.2). All joking aside - testing does seem to be a bit of a minefield. I hope you get a resolution that you can be confident with.
