Covid-19 vaccine. Hi all. As my partner has an underactive thyroid plus other health conditions, does that mean she is classed as vulnerable and can therefore get a vaccine sooner, does anyone know? Any guidance would be much appreciated. Cheers

HC17,
No, people with thyroid disorders are not classed as vulnerable.
There is no evidence so far that people with thyroid disorders are at any particular risk from a Covid-19 vaccination. As this is such a new vaccine, only time will tell though.
You can look at the comments on our poll to get some idea of how people who have already been vaccinated are or are not being affected. healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

If she is in receipt of the official letter advising her to shield due to health conditions, then yes, otherwise no.
He can have the vaccine, my husband has GCA taking methotrexate, and steroids, his consultant said no problem with the vaccine, I also asked my Endo as I have Graves Disease he said we are not classified as vulnerable no problem with covid jab.
Neither hypothyroidism nor hyperthyroidism will class us as vulnerable. However, as you say your partner has another condition, check online to see if it is on the official list of conditions which class a person as clinically extremely vulnerable. Only those officially classed as CEV are in line for an early vaccination.
I have chronic kidney disease, hypothyroidism and other stuff. I am not on the list for vulnerable people...
I am also nearly 70. I expect to be called early March, if Wales get their act together.
I don't want to falsely raise your hopes, but I flicked past a BBC news page about Wales the other day.
If this was maintained at the same level, it is well on course to see the target of first doses of the first four priority groups being met by 14 February.

Group 4 is 70 and over (and some others).
I rather assumed that group 5 would start when group 4 is completed. Well, we all know how the rate has varied across the UK, and there are bound still to be some group 1 people for ages - and 2 and 3 and 4. So I'd not be too sure of anything!
