So many people sent messages of support and information. thank you. I have asked the head of my GP surgery for a face to face meeting, urgently and it seems all he will allow is a telephone conversation. This seems unfair as the surgery is about to deregister me

thank you for your advice. I don't know h ow to use my phone for recording, unfortunately. I'm not very tech savvy

I thought that might happen.

Write down on a piece of paper beforehand what you want to say and main points just in case you forget anything major. If your phone is android, you can download a microphone app from the Google Pay app store and set it to record.

Try not to make it sound like you are blaming them, but at the same time be firm. From replies you got yesterday they may have not taken all the right steps before formally sending notice of deregistration.

Best of luck x

Is the doctors’ surgery doing vaccinations over the telephone? Someone must be meeting patients face-to-face. Good luck.

Hi Ya

How awful for this to happen, they really should have spoken to you more about this before taking such drastic action, but it seems that being able to hide away from all their patients for so long has made them forget what they are here for! Reading your comments yesterday I just had one small thing that might help you, you said that you wrote that you needed someone who had a proper English Accent or words to that effect, you may find it better if you simply asked very carefully, I am not sure what happens but I really find that person (use their name if you know it) really difficult to understand, is there any chance another person may return the call, I am so sorry but it would be really helpful so that I can fully understand the conversation. This way you sound less like you are against any other nationalities and you may have a softer reply, hopefully, after all, it doesn't matter if they have an accent, as long as you can understand them, that is the important thing! Good luck for the meeting.

I never said I didn't want to speak to the doctor with a foreign name. I just said I only wanted someone to phone me who had a good English accent. If the foreign doctor had a good English accent..fine! I have no objection to speaking to anyone as long as I can understand them . This is not discrimination. This is just trying to be sensible.

They keep changing their minds about why they are deregistering me. First it was because I was inappropriate, inconsiderate, unreasonable. Then it became because I was not empathic and had lost trust. Now it seems it's a communication problem.

You are right. They have become tinpot dictators because they don't have to deal with patients face to face.

I am so sad you are going through all this I’ve known since all this started patients would suffer. My teeth are black at the roots rotting away and my dentist will only see me if I’m in agony, and if she does see me she won’t do any treatment that involves a drill, she advices me buy my own fillings and do it myself. It will only get worst I’m sorry to say. Good luck with your telephone appointment I really hope it works out it’s awful how you’ve been treated

Hi ya

I understand, and they have undoubtedly been a complete nightmare. They often jump to conclusions, I arranged a meeting with my doctors to solve a large problem and I asked for a meeting either early or late in the day. A lady doctor came on the phone very hoity toity with me and implying who do you think you are telling us when we can meet, my time is obviously far more important than yours and it should be when I deign to meet you. I was thinking you cheeky mare, the surgery had ruined 2 years of my life by not sorting, or even attempting to sort out problems and then you treat me this way, but I did not let that show, I just calmly explained, the problem is that I am a long way from home during the day as I travel around during my working day, only then did she calm down. I think, saying "english accent" is what is causing the problem, it doesn't matter if the persons English has an accent to it from another part of the world, just that you can understand, so all you really need is another person and then you should be fine and they will calm down with you, they have just jumped to conclusions that you will only speak to native English speakers.

I hope it goes well and that you manage to sort it out well

sorry to hear of your problems. You'd think people of their calibre would have more sense

I hope all goes well with the telephone call, as Hidden and Alanna012 suggested recording the call is an excellent idea, as indeed is having a note of the questions you want to ask. Sometimes having a ‘script’ is helpful as it ensures points are made avoiding anything which may be interpreted as unhelpful or even inflammatory. Staying calm and collected will definitely benefit the outcome.

yes agree. I have typed out four points in support of my appeal which don't accuse anyone of anything

I'm not sure whether I should insist on a face to face, or is that adding fuel to the fire? The letter I've got today sounds like he just wants to help me move to another practice, not try and sort things out, which is worrying

Saving that for future use.

think i might start off asking him how he sees the 'communications' problem, what he thinks has happened. He said he's read all the letters.

Wouldn't push for face to face appointment right now, as it's putting yourself at risk and also will make you come across as uncooperative, which will simply ensure they don't change their minds.

I'm not fully up to speed on the whole thing, but I saw in your last post, you said the nurse reported you'd made her cry? Do you know why she would have said that?

It's a tough situation, but I think you need to listen to the practice manager's explanations and as others have said, have a list of questions to hand that you want to have answered.

trouble is I have no idea about the nurse. She said I was 'dismissive' but we never had a conversation. It was just a routine blood test. Nobody's been given me a clue as to what I might have said or done. I've been having blood tests for years, this has never happened before. I think they should've quizzed the nurse more before implying that the fault was mine.

I suppose that's a point that needs to be asked in the call. I'd think this (more so than the other issue) is probably why they're removing you from their list without consultation first.

While you can explain why you asked for a clear-spoken receptionist, I really think this will be the main point of discussion that needs to be addressed. I'd want to understand what she says you've done, so you can dispute it if appropriate. It could be you were just the straw that broke the camel's back for her with an inadvertent comment, but the way this will have been interpreted is that she was perfectly happy until you bullied her to tears. I suspect if she needed 3 days off, it wasn't just you that pushed her to breaking point, she will have been close already.

The head of practice said he cannot change the decision and would not coment on anything I told him. Quite useless. I now discover that 'discrimination' is a crime, so I am now a criminal!! I am seeking a solicitor.
