Hi , just wondering what your thoughts are on this ....

Endocrinologist has been in touch with my doctor (finally) and has advised me to stay on current dose of eltroxin...... currently 25/50 alternative days.

He has also said because of side effects im experiencing i should take my dose with food ..... I know I know.

He also wants me to take a tablet for my stomach ( ones you take if on ibuprofen all the time ... can't remember which one )

He wants me to do this the report back after 4 weeks .

Then he'll see if my body can take more of a dose .

I did experiment with myself on 50 daily for 5 days and was experiencing constant adrenaline, jitters and more ....

J

That sounds very much like a PPI - Omeprazole, etc - which lower stomach acid. You have to be careful with those, they're really designed to be used short term. Also, many Hypos have low stomach acid anyway and low stomach acid means nutrients aren't effectively absorbed.

Logically, i think that if you take it with food then you will actually absorb less of it into the blood, so he will be able to get a higher dose 'tolerated ' as in you will be swallowing a higher dose..... but you won't be getting it into your blood.I've forgotten what effect's omeprazole have , but i wouldn't mind betting it's the same thing, ie yes you can swallow more , but the amount that gets to the blood will be less than if you didn't take omeprazole with it ?

So you could take more but have the same blood results you got when taking it on an empty stomach, if that makes sense.
