I'm planning to take HC as I do not tolerate even a small quantity of NDT, my ft3/4 and t4 coming very high after taking only a fraction of the capsule.
As in the book of dr peatfield, i have tried adrenal cortex, to which i built tolerance somehow im pretty sure, as well as pregnenolone, which does do something but it surely won't raise my cortisol enough to start tolerating thyroid.
Anyone have had any experiences with hydrocortisone? anyone managed to come off of it and it helped HPA axis to function better?
Thanks in advance, Mike.

well my blood results of ft3/ft4 are thru the roof taking an only roundabout 1/6th of one grain of the NDT, not tolerating thyroid is common in peoples with not optimal cortisol, my cortisol was normal/high in the morning but then low flat line thru the day. I am now trying only t3 first day today, i took about 2,5mg in the morning, lets see it that will cause muscle twitches like NDT did.
I think I've already expressed my views on this in another post. The fact that your cortisol was normal/high but then is flatter is how cortisol should be, it's highest first ting in the morning & then drops through the day. You run the risk of compromising your adrenal glands so they stop producing cortisol.
yes, it drops thru the day, but it still has to be optimal for thyroid hormones to function well, have you ever heard about the cortisol-thyroid connection? also, have you had some bad experiences with synthetic cortisol?
Being hypothyroid I am aware of the need for cortisol to be optimal. In answer to your question about bad experiences of synthetic cortisol ie Hydrocortisone or prednisolone, I have. I am steroid dependent in that i don't produce my own cortisol so need to replace it, it is very difficult to get the right level of steroid as there is no home testing kit to measure cortisol like the ones used to test glucose levels. I have to be very aware of my body to try to pick up when my cortisol is dropping. I have to take HC several times a day otherwise I can go into crisis, I also have to carry an emergency injection of HC with me at all times in case of an accident or illness. I also run a support group for people with Cushing's, many of them have symptoms of Cushing's due to long term steroid use for a health condition. I'm also part of a group for people with adrenal insufficiency, you only have to read the daily posts to see what challenges people on steroids are facing every day to make you realise they are not the magic drug some perceive it to be. yet if we stopped taking our steroids we would die.
I had a tumour in my pituitary gland that caused Cushing's disease, my body overproduced ACTH which in turn made my adrenal glands too much cortisol. When it was removed I had to go onto steroids to replace the cortisol that I no longer produced. My pituitary gland didn't "wake up" & consequently my adrenal glands stopped producing cortisol. The effects of too much cortisol on my body was profound, I went from swimming a mile, walking my dogs an hour plus each day, hill walking in Switzerland to having to use a mobility scooter. I am now very limited in what I can do.
