You stop your tablets and see if your levels stabilize and you go into remission.

Do you have any recent blood results to share with us?

Also here is a link to Elaine Moore's site, she has helped me obtain remission twice now.

I would ask for a copy of the results and post them on here. You are entitled to see all your results and don't take their word for it when they say "normal"

You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.

The best way to get access to current and historic blood test results is to register for online access to your medical record and blood test results

UK GP practices are supposed to offer everyone online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need "enhanced access" to see blood results.

In reality many GP surgeries do not have blood test results online yet

Alternatively ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up.

Important to see exactly what has been tested and equally important what hasn’t been tested yet

Very important with Graves’ disease to also test vitamin levels

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Ask GP to test vitamin levels as well

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Come back with new post once you get results

The usual treatment is to be on anti thyroid meds for about 18 months when they will be stopped. You will then either be in remission for an unknown length of time or you will relapse and be offered definitive treatment of a thyroidectomy or radioactive ablation. This is what was offered to me a few years ago. I sought a second opinion and was advised that because my TRAb was still high at 16 I was likely to relapse so was kept on a low dose of block and replace.

I have looked back your other posts to try to understand the course of your Graves but can't see any blood results or dose of Carbimazole or if antibody tests were carried out. Without this information it would be difficult to comment. If you could manage to share them I am sure you would get useful feedback from forum members.

Some very relevant advice from asiatic. If TRAb is still high, best not to stop the carbimazole as chances of relapse is high.

And given u have AF, best to be extra careful about stopping the carbimazole before ascertaining it is safe to do so.

Is the AF better controlled now?
