T-3 Without a Prescription?

Please don't post in the forum-- send me a PM!

I had my genome sequenced, and found I have a hard time converting T4 to T3. Honestly it explains a lot-- my rapid weight gain, fatigue, swelling.

Does anyone have a reliable supplier they can recommend?

Welcome to the forum

Before considering adding T3 you need to make sure you are on high enough dose levothyroxine and all four vitamins optimal

Do you have Hashimoto’s (autoimmune thyroid disease) if yes, are you on strictly gluten free diet and/or dairy free

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last third or quarter of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

Hi TeaKettle.

Have you looked at the thyroid uk list of friendly endo’s and doctors? If you have tested positive for the DIO2 gene and can show you don’t convert well they will consider trialling you on a t4/t3 combination. I have to initially go private until a space becomes available on the NHS and I can swap over.

My endo is in London and Kent. Not sure where you are but it may well be worth your while trying to get it through an NHS doctor if you can. x
