To add T3 or increase levo?

Hi,

I posted 11 months ago about my continuing symptoms despite normal tsh. Since then I've corrected my low ferritin and have been taking supplements to improve B12, vit D and folate levels. Just had thyroid blood test results and they are as follows

TSH 1.65 (0.27-4.2 mIu/l)

FT3 4.08 (3.1-6.8 pmol/l)

FT4 18.7 (12-22 pmol/l)

Im thinking of sourcing T3 myself and seeing if this helps. I currently take 100mcg levo daily. I have thought about increasing this to 125mcg but if I'm not converting it well then I don't know if this will help. If I were able to source T3 myself can anyone advise what dose I would start with? And whether to reduce levo? Or would it be better to increase T4 and not try T3?

As you can probably tell I still can't really get my head around it so any comments or thoughts are appreciated!

Looking at previous post from 10 months ago

Ferritin 6.3 ug/L (10-204 ug/L)

Folate 4.9 ng/ml (3.1-20.5 ng/ml)

Vit B12 362 ng/L (187-883 ng/L)

Ferritin was seriously low

What are your most recent vitamin results?

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Looking for ferritin and folate to be at least half way through range

B12 over 500

Active B12 over 70

Vitamin D at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

Are you now on strictly gluten free diet?

Ft4 is only 67% through range

Ft3 only 26.5% through range

So you possibly do have room for small increase in levothyroxine. It might help. It might not

If not, then next step is to get small doses of T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine

Email Dionne at Thyroid UK for list of recommend thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3.......NHS and Private

The aim of levothyroxine is to increase dose upwards until Ft4 is in top third of range and Ft3 at least half way through range (regardless of how low TSH is)

Extremely important to have optimal vitamin levels too as this helps reduce symptoms and improve how levothyroxine works
