Vitamin timings

Hi everyone,

Following on from my post yesterday about my blood test results, I now have my vitamins (Vit D, co-factors of K2 and Magnesium, and B complex). Apart from leaving a four gap from taking my thyroid meds in the morning to taking these, can I have all these vitamins at one time?

Thanks in advance,

Eleanor

I was generally advised to take magnesium before bed, vitamin D with a fat-containing meal, and a B-vitamin complex before 1pm. I don't think it's so much about them not being OK to take at the same time, but more about the optimal time of day for each.

Thanks for your reply Cooper. I'll make sure I get the timings right. Lucky I didn't just down them all in one go 😀

If possible I'd return that Vit K2, the dose is far too high at 600mcg, when taken as a cofactor of D3 then 100mcg is enough for up to 10,000iu D3.

This one is a good one and the "all-trans" form like the NutriZing:

amazon.co.uk/Vitamin-natura...

For the B Complex, take it 2 hours away from your Levo and no later than lunchtime (as some people find B vitamins stimulating and you don't want it disturbing your sleep).

For Vit D and magnesium these should be taken 4 hours away from Levo.

As your Vit D is in capsule form rather than an oil based softgel then you'll need to take it with the fattiest meal of the day, or some dietary fat like a chunk of cheese.

Same with the K2 - again this is a fat soluble vitamin and needs dietary fat.

Don't take Vit D and K2 at the same time, as they are capsules and not oil based they will be competing for the fat if you take them together.

You could take the K2 at the same time as the B Complex as long as there's some dietary fat.

Magnesium is often best taken in the evening as it's calming and may help sleep.

Thanks Susie, I'll get the other K2 and follow your advice on timings, food etc. Thanks again for all the advice.
