My serum Cortisol result is 598 with no range given, blood was drawn at 9.20am. I had it done as I don't feel brilliant! Apparently it's in range but I'm wondering whether it's a bit high.
Any help you lovely people can give me would be much appreciated. 🤓

Cortisol reading shoud be between 450 - 550nmol/Ls firs thing in the morning so yours is very slightly elevated, however a few factors can influence a higher result. If you are the contraceptive pill containing osestrogen or on HRT then they can give an elevated result. Severe depression or alcoholism can also give an elevated result. Biotin found in some supplements & hair products can also raise it. Long term steroids will also cause it to be high as well. Cushing's syndrome can also cause it to be high due to either a benign pituitary or adrenal tumour. To get an accurate result you need to be off HRT or the pill for 6 weeks before repeating the test, a 24 hour urine test is also a good indicator of what is going on. Symptoms of Cushing's are weight gain especially around the tummy, round flushed face, thin skin, easy bruising, insomnia, stretch marks, high BP, plus several more, you don't have to have all of them either. Hope that helps?
Sadly I no longer have the need for the Pill and I'm not on HRT or steroids. I drink one bottle of beer in a day and I don't think I have Biotin in anything, at least that I can see.
So, maybe a urine test is the way to go. I'm talking to my Doc later do I'll ask him about that.
Thank you for your help, the people on here are wonderful!
