Ive been plagued with breathlessness and nausea and I don’t want to mention it to my Endo he will just say I’m over medicated and just try to reduce my meds I’m on (100mcg synthyroid & 10mcg Cytomel) I do have lab paperwork to get the blood test done but my Endo refuses to test FT3 and for the life of me I don’t understand why, You might have thought he was paying for the blood test himself...sigh!
My on going (Random) breathlessness and nausea is starting to drive me crazy. I go a day or two without any issues and then suddenly the breathlessness and nausea are back, mostly breathlessness occasionally nausea accompanies it. I originally thought it was the statin causing it but it’s not and it’s certainly not from exercising to much although I’m moving around more.
Does anyone have this issue . I seriously doubt I’m over medicated.
I currently supplement with D3,K2, B vitamins and Magnesium. I did try adding Zinc and that really made me gasp for air, so I haven’t taken it again and I’m not sure why.
My last lab test was sprung on me 3 months ago at Endo visit so I didn’t fast and I took my meds 2 hours prior to blood draw so I don’t think it’s not 100% accurate.
These results were taken 2 hours after taking my thyroid meds and NO fasting ....this was a surprise test I didn't prep for it because it was second opinion about lymph node cancer. As you can see these results are not spectacular even though I took my meds 2 hours earlier...I'm due for another test WHICH I will do early AM and no thyroid meds.

Your description of symptoms sounds quite similar to how I felt in a time when my blood pressure and pulse were going a bit crazy. Have you been measuring your heart rate? I was having periods of higher pulse and strange pressure that lasted for a few hours to overnight.
For me I think it was caused by too much T4 and I've been adjusting the ratio of T4 to T3 I take with some success.
Hi, Batty1,. I'm sorry you are going thru that. I have to say that I was having nausea, diarrhea, shortness of breath and palpitations, itchy eyes, i told my Dr and all he did was gave me a higher dosage, I took for almost two weeks n I got worse, so I slowly weaned myself off the levothyroxine, and for now trying a natural approach, all the horrible symptoms stopped, be careful you are not being poisoned by the med, change Drs if you have to, having hypothyroidism is very complicated, my body will not tolerate any thyroid meds, and becuz of that I have to try other alternatives to help myself.
Sorry, you are going thru alot, if your nausea and breathless continue maybe you need to try another med, and also breathless means you have too much med in your body, you need to lower your dose, hope the best for you, cause being breathless can affect your heart, so you need to see your Dr
I havehaven't had nausea in a while. I definatley don't need a reduction of meds ...I'm most likely undermedicated OR my other health conditions are behind my breathlessness which is totally random anyway and having been over medicated in the past the issues are constant not random.
Hi, you know your body better than anyone, just stay close to your Dr and listen to your body. In my case I don't go by numbers, because with the smallest dosage or higher dosage the symptoms are always the same, so it only proves everybody is different, all I know is that nausea diarrhea shortness of breath and palpitations diapearred, I'm feeling normal again, I'm one of the few that cannot tolerate thyroid meds
Hi, Drs tried all dosages with me, with the smallest dosage I felt ok but when I would go back and see my Dr every three months, he woul tell me,he would have to higher it a bit, as he was doing that I was feeling worse n worse, actually when I was first diagnosed with hypothyroidism, they started me on a dose of 120 mcg, I started collapsing n winded up in the ER, it gave me a mini stroke, the Dr took me off the levothyroxine, didn't give me anything for a year, then he started me on half of 25 mcg, every other day, I was doing fine on a small dose, then he told me to take it everyday, then he told me to take 25 everyday, that's when it all started, the nausea diarrhea shortness of breath and palpitations, it was horrible, my body just can't tolerate it . Now I'm off of it and I'm doing just fine, I'm following a hashimotos diet, I do accupressure points, I go to a accupuncturist, I take a good B vitamins, I take a thyroid supplement, I don't eat anything with gluten. I'm following a Dr that helps people with hashimotos, and he says some people with hashimotos don't respond well to meds.
Hi, Drs have tried all dosages with me, with the med, sorry I call it med, yes I know it's a synthetic hormone, and I think my body rejects it cuz it's synthetic, I have also tried armour, and nature throid, and supposedly they are more natural, but I don't do well with pig glandulars, I went to the ER with those meds. I'm doing fine taking a more natural approach, I have to listen to my body, I'm not going to allow for Drs to insist in giving me something that makes me feel horrible. When you're allergic you have to listen to your body before the med kills you.
its tricky because many people on here struggle with getting the correct balance, and, yes, you have to do what's right for you to make you feel well. As long as we re all clear that severe lack of thyroxine can kill someone.
