Doctor checking up on me ...

I’ve just had my second phone call from my GP (face to face via iPhone) first time he called he was talking away looking at my ear. Lol. Now I kind of like the idea so may extend this new way of seeing my GP rather than going in. When we return to normal with this Covic19

Unless I have to of course. GP E-Consult

As way of an update to me just stopping all meds for my over active thyroid with regards to my block and replace treatment I was on. As per my GP checking up on me. I stopped in February 2020 after being diagnosed 2 years ago. I’m 63 years old. This now explains why I used to feel dizzy at work after bending down. Was a joiner now retired in my own way. Lol

I’m still doing very well considering I just stopped all meds at once. I thought I would by now have gone into remission but I’m doing well and feel good inside (just finished a course of 6 injections of B12 taken every 2 days, I personally don’t feel any different after the course, just feel the same) I’m diagnosed with Graves too. I asked my Surgery to run some blood tests for folate ferritin B12 and vitamin. B12 came back low hence my course.

My weight is coming back down and I’ve been told it should settle around my weight prior to the start of my thyroid problem. I couldn’t stop putting weight on during my overactive thyroid treatment, although to be honest I never really tried to loose it. Liked my bacon sandwiches too much. Even now I’m trying to carry on the way as I was before my diagnosis. That’s eating fish n chips in paper, steak, etc... however my portion size has got smaller now as I find for some reason I feel full easier and can’t eat a large meal now (wondering if my stomach has shrunk during my treatment.

Im trying to get back to the way I was before my diagnosis. FIRST then if that fails I’ll try the way some in here try to cope with an overactive thyroid and Graves. I’m keeping a diary as every now and then say while watching tv or reading I feel hot and sweat for a few minutes. This has happened a few 2-4 times a month from stopping meds. Looking back through my diary the times I have sweated there’s no one thing I’ve done or eat before it happens so I’m putting it down to my thyroid. My GP has asked I keep an eye on it.

I’ll update again in a few month in case anyone else on block n replace.

Before you supplemented with B12, did you check if you had Pernicious Anaemia or just a deficiency in B12?

P.A. is a serious condition and must be treated with B12 injections every three months for life

B12 levels low that’s all

B12 may 'just be low' so I am assuming you have had the test suggested above.

Yes had a blood test but not a separate test for P.A

You can pop over to Pernicious anaemia site and they will advise.
