I am sure we all wish Michael Rosen the very best. Have just seen this story:

Michael Rosen 'very poorly but stable' after night in intensive care

Well-wishers send messages to the former children’s laureate, whose book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt has inspired a global teddy bear hunt for children in lockdown.

Guardian article quote from Michael's tweet “Can’t stop my thermostat from crashing: icy hands, hot head. Freezing cold sweats. Under the covers for bed-breaking shakes. "

Knowing that he takes medication for thyroid, this makes me instinctively wonder if his thyroid hormone levels are being closely monitored. I suppose in reality, nursing staff have far too much to do at this time to worry about it. But it could be really interesting to have records of frequently monitored thyroid hormone levels in people hospitalised with CV. I'm thinking possibly several times a day.

I fully agree.

I agree....

As someone amongst us who takes a huge dose of T3, I've resigned myself to the reality that should a hospital stay happen (the result of Covid 19) then the overworked medical staff won't have time to consider their patient's thyroid medication ....particularly when a clinical need for T3 is not recorded in their medical notes because the patient is self medicating.

I very much hope Michael Rosen's hormone levels are being monitored in order to aid a successful recovery.

Stay safe everyone.

Could Michaels symptoms you mentioned be indicative of under treated thyroid then?

I think it's impossible to say either way, because there is so much yet to understand about this virus. Maybe it isn't so much about being 'under treated', but about how the virus itself might be disrupting thyroid hormone levels. Many of the symptoms people with the virus are reporting could be linked to thyroid hormone levels, but that could also be a total red herring.

Indeed very best wishes for his complete recovery. Enjoy his programmes so much.

Frightening times for us all.

Let’s hope we’ll escape this virus.

I have been wondering if vitamin D levels are being tested as low vitamin D doesn’t help and higher levels of the vitamin do.
