Near total thyroidectomy
How long since your TT
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking?
Which brand of levothyroxine?
Many people don’t get on with all brands. Teva brand especially upsets many people
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after any dose or brand change in levothyroxine
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested. These are frequently too low and need improving by supplementing
As you have Graves’ disease are you on strictly gluten free diet. this helps many people
Also Elaine Moore runs good website for Graves patients
My understanding is that any remnant thyroid tissues can regenerate if given the opportunity but it may take them months, even years to do so. The residue of mine took 3 months to recover after a partial thyroidectomy in 1989. I believe my GP had deliberately not given me any levo in the anticipation that I would fully recover eventually, which I did........until the goitre came back 15 or so years later.
Speak to your GP and, if you are very lucky, he may be able to give you some sensible details.
