Alopecia aretera in hashimoto thyroid

I have large patches of hair loss after being on synthroid for years. Switched to nature and now Armour thyroid In hope of regaining my hair, after using minoxidil for months I have very new growth though less hair fall. Any one has any success stories? My thrichologist said hair loss due to lack of vitamins.

Yes I posted them in my earlier post. Working on bringing my vitamins D levels and iron levels up, am anemic

I can't seem to find them what is your ferritin level? The reason I ask is because I was told it needs to be over 80 for hair growth. Mine was very low at one time because of heavy periods because of my thyroid disease. Just to add I have lost about 50% of my hair in the past because my levels were not right but my hair has now been growing back for over 6 months now.

What have you been taking? I’ve had hair loss, took ferrous sulphate which stopped the hair loss somewhat, but it’s not growing back.

I haven't been taking anything I just went into remission from Graves' disease. In the past I tried everything and nothing worked it was all to do with my thyroid levels and unless they are right you will continue to lose hair. I even purchase minoxidil but didn't use it because that is a life time commitment and if you stop it your hair falls out.

Good to hear about your Graves’, how did you do that?

I’m not planning to take any chemicals, hoping to just deal with it via diet and supplements...

No idea if I am being honest ... I did go on a sunny holiday which I forced myself to do because I felt depressed and ill. I don't know if that kick started my thyroid but I started to recover after that.

It could be due to lack of vitamins but the fact that if it is Alopecia this is another autoimmune condition where the root follicles are attacked and it kills or damages the follicle.-

I have had my hair fall out for the past ten years and for six months I'm bald and then it slowly grows back only to follow that cycle.

Of course all our vitamins/minerals have to be optimal but we can develop other autoimmune conditions if we've already got one.

It is a mystery to me why my hair is growing back now because I still have very high antibodies and my levels are not perfect. I think I am slightly hyper with a high T4 and a low TSH 0.37.

I have had my hair fall out completely and then grow back for the past ten years. I'd prefer it if I had hair during the summer, rather than the winter but that doesn't happen for me.

I have never gone completely bald but my hair has become very thin when I was losing 100s a day for a couple of years. I think it was chronic Telefon Effluviun where the hair cycle is shortened and keeps cycling. My hair looks ok at the moment but I know this will change if my thyroid levels become either too low or too high.
