Results of thyroid testing.

I am not on any medication except propanalol for fast heart beat. I managed to see another GP at my practice who ordered another blood test. I only have these results, I will have more come through tomorrow. I have also included dec 2019 results. I due for a review with GP in a couple of weeks so hopefully we can come up with a plan to feel better. EDITED TO NOW INCLUDE T3

TSH 0.01 (0.1 to 4)

T3 15.2 (3.5 to 6.5)

T4 37.2 (9 to 22)

JAN 28TH 2020

TSH 0.01 (0.1 to 4)

T3 22.4 (3.5 to 6.5)

How do you feel? When I had a TSH of 0.002 I felt very ill ... my hair was dropping out, my nails were lifting off their beds and I was a size 8. This had built up over 2 years so because my Doctor did not spot I had a suppressed TSH ,I am lucky I did not have a thyroid storm. If I was you I would start treatment as soon as possible before you get worse.

Hello! That'll you for your reply. Wow 0.002 that's very low, some days I feel ok some days very shaky (even on on 160mg of propanalol) weak, sweaty/ clammy. My hair is falling out although fortunately it does grow back pretty fast but just falls out again, and I have bad migraines, I'm losing weight even though I eat like a pig. I function though I just try and get on with it. I'm still waiting for an endocrinologist appointment unfortunately.

What's a thyroid storm? It doesn't sound good.

I had one last July and was admitted to hospital. I thought I was having a heart attack my heart rate was high and I was sweating and shaking all over ... very frightening but I recovered and I am now in remission. I must point out that to have thyroid storm is a very rare occurrence and you might not ever have one so try not to worry.

I hope they see you soon because I do remember how ill I felt. Once they get your levels down and rest your thyroid you will start to feel better.

Have you had the Anti- bodies tested as suggested by SeasideSusie in your post/thread a month ago ?

Yes hopefully, I asked at my last GP appointment. He said they don't usually do that at the surgery you had to wait until your hospital appointment but he did put it down as something that needed testing. So I'm still waiting for that result as I had a blood test on Tues.

You need all four thyroid antibodies tested ...plus vitamin D. Folate, ferritin and B12

Yes that's my problem, I'm still waiting for my endocrinologist appointment and my GP has said they are limited as to what they can do as a lot of the tests they are unable to perform. So I just have to wait.

See a different GP

You should be prescribed propranolol (assuming not asthmatic) and / or carbimazole

They should be testing vitamin D, folate, B12, ferritin and coeliac blood test too

Fortunately I was prescribed propanalol 160mg as my heart rate was 120 BPM he was surprised how fast it was as I'm a healthy and fit 38 yr old. He said a lot of the blood tests hes unable to do (such as all the detailed antibodies one people have suggested) but he won't prescribe carbimazole until I have seen the endocrinologist. I suppose I'm just a bit stuck in the system.

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

Unfortunately I can't afford private tests just yet however if I don't get my endocrinologist appointment soon I may have to reconsider.
