Plasma C Reactive Protein high...

Hello again, I have another question from a recent blood test. My plasma C reactive protein is 8 mg/L (normal range 0-4) (as well a slightly high potassium which I posted about earlier). My GP is not concerned, but having read up I see that it could be a sign of a badly managed autoimmune disease like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. I do of course already have Hashimoto's, so I worry that I might be developing another thing... what would the best course of action be? Do an auto immune profile?

I feel reasonably well though have noticed some stiffness and pain in my finger joints and sciatica-like pain from my buttocks down to my legs (alternating) and sometimes neck over the last weeks, plus since a few days a slight tremor in my left arm.... I was planning to sit back and see if things go away over the next few weeks before going to see the doctor about these symptoms.

Background: I am on a combination therapy of 125mcg Levothyroxine and 15mcg Liothyronine daily, fully gluten free, all vitamins/minerals at good levels (I supplement). TSH is undetectable, FT3 5.3 (3.10-6.80pmol/L), FT4 18.8 (10-23 pmol/L).

Thanks for any thoughts!

CRP is non specific so could be raised for many reasons or no reason at all. My results are usually high around 12 but as nothing obvious is going on it's not considered important, I also have high liver results for no apparent reason so again not worrying.

Ok, that's a relief to hear. I'll ask to be re-tested... and see what happens. Thanks!

What about working on the inflammation you have which your crp suggests? Take curcurmin and maybe some fish oil for a while. Could help with other pain you have. I have sciatica right now and am going to PT for targeted exercises.

Good tips! I am already taking both, but will look into targeted exercise - thanks!

My CRP is over 9 and has been rising for years so try not to worry, it just means there is inflammation in your body. The time to worry is when it is a lot higher. I mentioned mine to a Consultant in A & E yesterday and he said "Don't worry it has to be a lot higher to mean cancer" Thanks Doc! lol

Thank you! I never know when to worry or not and so alert to disaster since I’ve gone through lots of crap before hashimotos was propely diagnosed and treated... so thanks for re-assuring me!

My crp hit 142 when I had a massive infection, it’s an inflammatory marker but non specific. Would see doc about pain tho. Good luck.
