Hi everyone so this is my second day on thyroid-s yestrday i chewed it and swallow and was fine...but was only my first day 2nd day today i took it sublingually...my last lab on 11.4.19 tsh was 0.1 (0.4-4.2) free t4 was 1.3(0.8 -1.7) these labs are from when i was takin the bad np thyroid my levels went bad and felt hypo these labs>tsh <0.01(0.4-4.2) date 6.28.19 i felt great at these ranges...last free t3 i had was in 2009 it wasn496 top of range was 420..i havent got anything tested on free t3 because ive always felt good.ive been on ndt since 2006 so todsy i take 60mg sublingually and felt a bit hyper my temp went to 98.8 its weird because ive always take ndts and my body should be used to the t3 in my body but in the past few months i been juggling from one ndt to another because of the bad np thyroid..until ins started thyroid-s i know my thyroid is prob not stable from the changes ect from good to bad pills...i ordered my own free t3 and will tell my doc to test my tsh and free t4 and other vitamins..at the time i felt hyper i did just get out of a arguement with a family member so not sure if maybe that had something to do with it with the temp and hyper feeling ..any advice or outlook on this is appreciated thanks

I know a lot of people chew it but I used to take mine in one go with a large glass of water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Others also split their dose and it suits them. Why do you chew it? Also I would not keep changing from one NDT to another because they are all different. I am just talking from my own experience and I am sure other people who take NDT will be along to advise you.

Thanks lora7again. Yes i was switching around ndts i know its probably not good i was just nervous to stsrt thyroid-s so i was prolonging it by taking my good pills.erfa and np my temps have been in the mid 98s all day except for today when i took my first dose to 98.8 i did actually chew and swallow it the first day and i was fine..maybe it could be stronger for me then my other ndt?ive always took ndts sublingually to bypass the stomach acid and get quicker absorption makes it easier to eat when i want to.lol🙂im on 2.5 grains for like forever..maybe i need to lower it?or maybe give my body time to adjust?thank you

Thyroid S suited me well but I had to stop it because I had a flare up with my Graves' disease. I would use it again if I needed to because I think it is one the best NDTs around. I did research it before taking it btw.

I didn’t chew mine. I think it shocked my system when it was absorbed too quickly. I also did a split dose because I found it quite potent!

Hello purpanda..i think you may be right i been only on armour, erfa, and np thyroid maybe there not as potent as thyroid-s i took it sublingually and i too felt like it was to much...i think im going to try and take it like normal and swallow it and go from there to see if its in fact the reason

Others have told me the “S” in Thyroid-S stands for slow release, which gives your body a time released dose. The drug is supposed to spread out evenly throughout the day if swallowed. It’s possible that chewing or taking it sublingual would spike the

hormone levels in your bloodstream, hence causing an unpleasant experience.I am sensitive so it effects me that way. Some people are able to take it all in one go without any problems. Unfortunately you will need to experiment for a bit to see what works for you. Hope you’ll find out soon!

I am surprised the bedtime dose doesn’t keep you up. I take 120 mg (2 grains) first thing in the morning, and half a grain around 4pm.

I wish i could take most of mine during the early day 60mg seems potent to me 120 wow how did you work your way up to be able to take that at one time?

It took me 3 weeks to be able to take 120 all at once. At first, I was taking 60 in the morning, and .75 in the afternoon, and raised by .25 every week.

Thyroid S has a coating which is special to this med. I have read on many sites that the coating is what causes it to be slow release...more like how a body with a normal working thyroid releases thyroid hormone. It is not recommended that you chew it, but instead swallow with water. I have been taking Thyroid S for quite a few years and it has made a huge difference in my quality of life. I do split my dose between very early morning, the 2nd dose mid afternoon and then very small dose at bedtime. Since I had not been on a t3 med before this...I did have headaches as my body adjusted...I just plowed through with each increase until I found my good level.

Hi jjf255 where do you fit food in your dosing schedule?lol im trying to figure it out because im ised to taking my ndts sublingually so this is new to me..sublingually gives me freedom of eating and by passing stomach acid or poor digestion..also i was reading on foods and hypothyroidism omg the lost was so long on what not to eat ,i think theres nothing left to eat.lol right now im taking 60mg at 11am then have a yogurt or fruit in between for a snack then lunch at around 2pm then take 60mg at 5 or 530pm snack then have dinner ect 2 hours later or 3 whenever im hungry then bed dose at 11pm i also had headaches slightly 2 days ago which was wierd i been on ndts for ling time

I take my first dose between 4AM and 5:30 AM. I don't actually get up this early, but always have to get up to use the bathroom at this time. Then I sleep for an hour to 1 1/2 hrs. more. So, breakfast is always at least an hour or longer after my 1st dose. 1 hour before eating and 2 hours after eating are a good amount of time to leave between doses. I usual have lunch (if I eat lunch...sometimes don't) around noon. I then take my second NDT dose around 2-3PM. My last dose is at 10PM to 11PM depending on when I go to bed. That last dose helps me sleep...oddly enough. My dinner is usually around 6pm and this is also when I take any vitamins and minerals so as to keep up to 4 hours between them and the NDT. If I have an evening snack, I make sure it's no later then 8 PM. It's hard I know! My husband just can't seem to be able to do this routine, so he takes his NDT (Armour) once in the morning. I have to say though...I do better then he does on it.
