Folate recommendation (MTHFR)

I’m homozygous for the C677T variant and have one copy of the other. Years ago I was taking a folate supplement that my doc recommended but I quit taking it after I moved cities. I cant remember what it was and I’m afraid of taking a B complex after reading on this forum that B6 can build to high levels and cause neuropathy. I am asking if anyone can recommend a brand that I can order from

Amazon? I’ve also read here that a recommended dosage is 400 mcg per day of Methylfolate. I’m trying to help boost my thyroid. I take Armour 90 and 60 alternating days but my T4 is on the low side. My new doctor is not up on natural support. Here are my numbers:

TSH 1.52

T3 .87

T4 free .66

Hi Txellen - can you add the ranges? (Numbers in brackets after the result) It depends where your result is in the range and every lab uses different ranges.

Just a quick point - when taking NDT you should take the same amount every day. It contains T3 which goes out of your system fairly quickly.

Also, you probably need an increase in dosage as TSH is normally suppressed when taking NDT.

Is the T3 total T3 or Free T3?

Hi and thank you! Here’s my range:

TSH 1.52 (.36-3.74)

Total T3 .87 (.60-1.81)

T4 free .66 (.76 - 1.46) Low

My doctor is not very skilled in thyroid problems but he’s trying. He told me to alternate the different mg because you can’t cut Armour but I agree I should be taking more. I’ll call my doc tomorrow. I’m excited to have this forum!
