What do you think of my results?

Hi

I have hashi's and I'm on 100mg of levo and have been for 4 years now. I was originally prescribed by a private endo who said tsh suppression and high T4 but I have a battle with my GP to maintain that.

Just had annual test and results are:

T4 7.7 (7.0-16.0)

TSH 1.83 (0.38 -5.33)

T3 - not done

Also Vit D 17.5

Ive been called in to discuss Vit D which is standard for me but doctor says thyroid is fine. I'm not sure, I'm struggling with my weight just now, tired and keep picking up colds (this could just be time of year).

Would you be challenging and is there any new research that supports low TSH and upper end T4?

Thanks xx

Your TSH is not low - under 0.38 could be considered low. Your ft4 is low. I am presuming it is free t4 and not total t4. I would suggest an increase in levo as you are symptomatic.

Hi thanks for reply. I think my TSH could be lower, it has been before?

Yes I think it could. An increase of levo would lower it and raise your ft4. I personally think this would help. The doctor might not be keen as you are in normal range. You need to argue that if your result had come back 0.38 and16.0 you would also have been told you were in normal range and that the point in the normal range you are at at the moment is leaving you with symptoms and is not OPTIMAL for you. You could compromise and raise dose by 12.5 per day if they are picky.

Went to doctors today and she very very reluctantly increased to 125. She really didn’t want to do it though!! Said I’m symptomatic because my vitamin D is very low right now.

So what has she prescribed to get your vitamins D levels up?

6 weeks of invita d3 50,000 IU. My level was only 17. She said if you're taking this and you thyroxine meds’ we won’t know which one is making you less tired. So I said we’ll surely if I’m feeling better it doesn’t matter?!

I’m going to go to shops later and co factors although I’m a little unsure about taking magnesium because of thyroxine.

Yes that was very low. If you search on here then you wull find a lot about vitamins. Also vitamins need to be taken well away from levo. 4 hours for vit d. I don't have much experience of this so post a new question or search this site for help. You can try the vit route. Hope it works.
