As well as being helpful to the gut, (milk) kefir contains decent amounts of tyrosine. However, I suspect (as with iodine), that if you thyroid is not capable of producing hormones or your pituitary/hypothalamus don't tell it to produce them, no amount of raw materials will make any difference.

Exactly what I was thinking. By the time you get to taking thyroid hormone replacement, it's a bit late to be thinking about tyrosine. However, you are getting it from your thyroid hormone replacement, just like iodine.
