This blog from Tania Smith or her Canadian site elegantly describes the problems in therapy control that arise when the thyroid is lost, together with its ability to produce T3 direct.

Thanks Marz I didn’t see that. I too have just signed up. If I’m honest I didn’t understand a lot of it but the bit that mattered seemed to go in!

I think many of us find it difficult to read long and complex pieces. Maybe the more we read the easier it becomes 🤔

You’re probably right but I seem to read, it goes in and then I forget 😂 I do follow a wonderful GP who herself has an under active thyroid, she does fabulous videos that make things very clear.

If you work through her articles I think slowly things make more sense as you begin to make the connections needed to build up the jigsaw puzzle that is thyroid function. I imagine my understanding is very crude compared to her’s or diogenes’, but I certainly know a lot more than when I first had the great luck to find and join this community 😊 I really didn’t have a clue back then. Knowledge is power.

An excellent source of information.

I totally agree this dr made the penny truly drop for me - such clarity in her discourse.

A well-written article that accurately displays the results of experiments which show conclusively that levothyroxine on its own will never give good health to every thyroid patient.

I don't pretend to understand much of it but suspect that many endocrinologists and doctors will also not be able to.

There are many, many such informative articles but not one of them is worth writing unless those who authorise changes are prepared to read them and take appropriate action.

In the UK it is the BTA who can change things as they seem to be the root from which UK recommendations originate. But they are unapproachable and the associated BTF is of no use.

Right this is fab information. However it is ‘heavy’ in that it comes thick and fast. What I would like to know is why can’t I print this off? I so want to digest every bit of it and frankly I can’t do it all at once and every time I go back to my IPad again I just have to hope I have not lost it. This stuff is just so juicy.

There is no obvious reason you cannot print it.

However, you could save a lot of ink by saving a bookmark! Or saving as a PDF.

I've attached an image of the button you need - (from a Mac not an iPad but it looks much the same, I believe) - click on it. You might have to scroll down to get the option you want to use.

Thyroid Patients Canada ( thyroidpatients.ca/ ) has dozens of detailed, well-researched blogs. I doubt you'll want to print all of them. :-)

Ooh helvella thank you. I still hanker for the black and white paper version but you are correct - I can’t print them all!
