Ectopic thyroid anyone have this!

My MRI showed a lingual ectopic thyroid. A thyroid scan showed that my thyroid was not working just the ectopic and that is why I’m hypothyroid. Does anyone have this? I am told it’s rare. My tongue swells often. Please help me thank you

Have you had Full Thyroid and vitamin blood tests too?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water . This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

I had ectopic thyroid tissue ...it was removed Dec 2018 along with thyroid

May I ask why it was removed? What symptoms were you experiencing? With levothyroxine my TSH is normal, so is t4 and t3 and I have no antibodies.

mine was cancer...chances of being cancerous is 1% and less...be positive ...i had no symptoms
