Hi all

I wrote a little while ago about my horrible joint pain and how I cd hardly walk about. I read that an Actavis batch seemed to be giving a lot of people a lot of problems so I switched to TEVA. I also upped my meds so I took 125 one day and 150 the next alternatively. It has now been since 7th September and I can walk without hardly any pain. I went to the beach at Skeggy and walked down and back on both proms which wd have been unheard of a few months back. I am now waiting for my nxt set of bloods to see the results and get told off for changing dose. Do I care - no!! I’m just hoping it keeps improving and I get some sort of life back.

I am so pleased for you, as joint pain has been a major problem for me and I was one of the members questioning a batch of Actavis that was not seeming to support me.

My pharmacy are stocking Teva, but I don't feel I have the confidence to try it.It is many years since I tried and rejected it,but don't know if it has been changed.

To be able to enjoy the walks that you have been doing would be a welcome move forward. I hope things continue to go well for you.

Actavis caused me severe joint pains two years ago! The pain in my knees and hips made it really difficult to walk. This was after taking only five doses😟. I changed to Wockhardt and it took just over a week for the joint pains to go completely. I don't know what it was in Actavis that caused the problem but it's made me reluctant to try any other brand even though Wockhardt is sometimes difficult to get hold of.

Glad to hear you are doing so well on Teva.

All the best

Spot on! I had to move heaven & earth to get Dr to order Wochardt personally for me. Later, I wised up and strategically listed all fillers in Wochardt and other brands. I then phoned Pharmaceutal Direct with my results who were fantastic and all my queries were answered. I found which filler I was totally allergic to. Drs no thanks! I do my own research and refuse to take pills containing fillers that are detrimental to my health. I stress this point cos I survived Grade 4 throat cancer so only good stuff for me. It really is a joke that one has to go to all this trouble to benefit oneself. Must write a book sometime!

Hi SkyBelle,

What a good idea to research the individual constituents of the different brands.

I was convinced that it was acacia in Actavis that caused my problem, but later when I looked again it appeared there was no acacia in Actavis. Did they change the formula or did I somehow make a mistake in the first place. I know a few of the brands do contain acacia. I'm still suspicious, despite evidence to the contrary, that that was the culprit in my case.

Glad to hear you are doing well now.

Best wishes

Have very recently read that Acacia is a lot of concern for some people. When I was on my third Dr, I eventually found a medical practitioner who agreed with me. Good thing I am not the squamish type having been shouted at many times! I thought, 'Now where is your bedside manner?'

I’m going to give it a month then stop my Amitryptiline to see if that makes a difference!

Amitriptylline has to be weaned off slowly. Some people get withdrawal symptoms if they stop it suddenly.

I would be very pleased to hear how you get on when you stop using Amitriptyline

as I also was given some for a possibly having fibromyalgia, though not confirmed as I was told there are no tests for it.My muscular pain increased after having shingles in the hot summer last year, but my Amitriptyline is only 10mg tabs and I am wary of taking it as it is described as an antidepressant.

Perhaps you could PM me and let me know how you get on ? I'd be very grateful to you.
