Access to my test results

Hi, I did a Genova 4-point saliva cortisol test with the Thyroid UK doctor named as my practitioner. Genova say they’ve emailed my results to her, but I’m not sure how to access them. Can anybody help please?

Details of how to access your results are on ThyroidUK's main website, on the same page as how to order tests from Genova :

Thank you, that’s very kind of you - I’ve filled in the form, though can’t remember the exact date the courier picked up my sample. Hopefully all will be well.

Do they not give you a receipt? I've not used courier pick up, I always use Royal Mail Special Delivery by 1pm Next Day at the Post Office Counter.

It didn’t occur to my son to ask for one - I was out when they picked up my samples. I used the courier recommended by Genova. I know that the results are with Thyroid UK, so that’s not an issue - just need to get access to them. I wish UK doctors would learn how to treat adrenal fatigue and hypothyroid, then we wouldn’t have to be messing around like this!! 🙄

Out of interest, what does the courier recommended by Genova charge?

I use Regenerus for my cortisol tests and they recommend USP who charge £9.50. Royal Mail's Special Delivery for the size/weight of Regenerus' box is £7.40.

They were more expensive - £12.50 - but with the saliva test needing to stay as cold as possible and get to lab asap, I decided not to faff about driving to the post office etc. Next time I’ll plan this whole thing much more carefully!

I'm lucky that my post office is a 5 minute walk. I keep the ice block and samples in the freezer until late afternoon, then take it to the post office about half an hour before pick up time. I always track the parcel, they seem to deliver to Regenerus between 8 and 9am so in the insulated box it should stay frozen until the next morning. The courier comes a lot earlier in the day to my area so Royal Mail is best for me.

I hope your results are what you wish them to be and that you don't have any nasty shocks :)

Have you found that Regenerus results are accurate and been able to treat yourself based on them?

I returned the Thyroid UK form yesterday having heard from you, and there’s no response yet 😢 It’s a pretty poor deal that we can’t just email TUK or log on and find our results on file.

Yes, I have been addressing an adrenal problem for 18 months and done a few tests with Regenerus. I've been able to track my progress and alter my supplement according to the results and things are looking a lot better. I chose Regenerus because they email you direct and you log onto your account with them to get your results.

I don't think TUK keep results on file for members to access as such. They're just an intermediary which allows us to use Genova and as Genova will only deal with "practioners" they wont send results to members of the public, only the practioner, so they're sent to TUK who will send them on to you when they're available and have been requested via the form.

Let’s hope I haven’t stuffed myself by not realising in time that I had to send the form. If Regenerus doesn’t require a practitioner I’ll definitely order through them next time, as there’s zero chance of a GP supporting me.

I’m interested to hear how you treated adrenal fatigue - which supplements worked best for you? Which of your symptoms would you say improved most quickly/noticeably? (If you don’t mind my asking)

No, not at all. Your results will be with TUK, they just need the form before releasing the results to you.

Regenerus do require a practioner, same as Genova, you just go to their website to order the test and put ThyroidUK as your practioner, details on TUK website. They send you the kit, you send it back, they email you that your results are ready and you log into your account with them. I like their method because if you do multiple tests they are all available to see on your account and you get your results direct.

My case isn't quite straightforward. I originally did a Genova test back in 2015, along with a raft of other tests to try to get to the bottom of my problem. I consulted with a practioner to interpret sex hormone tests and was told that my cortisol results were high. Now I know more, they were high in range but not over range. Practioner put me on Adreset to lower cortisol. Never suggested retesting. Disillusioned with practioner, I sacked her and never gave it a thought about retesting adrenals so carried on with the Adreset for 2 years. Silly me! I created a problem without realising. When I did eventually think to retest my cortisol levels had bottomed out across the whole day so I then had the job of raising them. Started with Adrenavive (adrenal cortex) until it became temporarily unavailable and when it did come back it had increased in price horrendously. I changed to a different brand and an adrenal glandular not the cortex. It was when I changed to the glandular that real improvement started for me. I have managed to get my evening and nighttime levels optimal, still a bit too low on the noon level and waking + 30 minutes level stays stubbornly very low. So still a work in progress but hopefully getting there. Can't say about symptoms because there has been so much going on and I can't pinpoint symptoms to any one thing in particular.

A UK practitioner or endo who understands about how to treat adrenals and thyroid is so rare it's virtually mythical. Which adrenal glandular are you taking?

Nutricology, whole glandular seems to suit me better than just cortex.
