Retrosternal thyroid noduke

Hi

My Ultra sound showed a large retrosternal thyroid nodule. Will I have a biopsy. ? My daughter is in remission from Hodgkins so would like it tested. Very grateful for any experience you can share

They may just got straight for removal as retrosternal goitres can cause some problems with compression on blood vessels and wrap around other organs. It is a more complicated operation so you would need an experienced surgeon,

I can vouch for what cjrsquared says, when the goitre starts going downwards towards your lungs you are in deep trouble and need to get it sorted out straight away.

The first surgeon who had a go at mine was amazed at what he found and abandoned the operation midway. It took a surgeon of genius to finally get me sorted out.

The longer you leave it the worse it gets so get it done now, irrespective of what a biopsis may indicate, your life really may be under threat if you delay too long, as I know from personal experience.

Thankyou. Do they decide on the size? My reading seems to suggest that and I agree it’s best to get rid!
