Hi all, I had a short synacthen test this morning. (My cortisol blood level was 302 borderline low). I’ve just started going to a private Endo. I have hypothyroidism but the Endo wanted to check if adrenals were a problem before returning to the thyroid.
Now I am feeling utterly wiped out (been sleeping a lot), bad indigestion and bad lower back pain. Oh, and a bit of vertigo. Not the room spinning but when I walk it’s like everything is not staying still.
Anyone else had a short synacthen test? Did you feel like this too?

Apart from a momentary feeling of nausea which didn't last as long as it's taken me to type it, It had absolutely no effect on me afterwards, and I spent the rest of the day in a shopping mall before driving c110 miles home. There have been a few reports here, of people feeling a little 'off' afterwards.
Yes. The last ACTH test I had, I had a really bad reaction too. They didn’t want me to leave the hospital for some time afterwards, I lied after 45 minutes and told them I felt much better, I didn’t but I just wanted to go home. As soon as I got in the car, I crashed, my hubby had to carry me into the house because he couldn’t wake me properly. And I then slept until the following day! Turns out my levels that day, after the test were <27 nmol/l!! Not had a test since!! I have been told by my endo that next time I’m to take my late evening 5mg as normal but not my morning dose, that day I hadn’t had any HC since 3.30pm the day before and my body just couldn’t handle it. Having Addisons/ Adrenal Insufficiency really sucks!! 🥺
I’d like to say yes I am but I’m not. I just don’t have the head space or cognitive awareness to make a post this evening about what’s happened today. I will do so tomorrow though.

During the test, I couldn't stop crying, but afterwards I felt fantastic - but it only lasted for the rest of the day. Test was abnormal (low). Your symptoms are symptoms of low cortisol - that's how I used to feel all the time (plus passing out and vomiting)
If the results are abnormal but only just, they'll do anything not to have to treat you - so more tests until something comes back normal: prepare for MRI or CT scan, and Insulin stress test as the next steps
Had one 6 weeks ago, felt ok at time of doing but the next 4 days I couldnt get out of bed,, Dr said mine were normal, I dont feel normal, my results were
127 nmol baseline cortisol. think bottom of range is 140

I stimmed ok so Im ok .. Im not so convinced with the low am crotisol
