My doctor tried to diagnose me with Fibromyalgia after 6 months of having heaviness in my legs which was brought on by having b12 injections, i have no other symptoms of Fibromyalgia, my legs were perfectly fine till after my second injection, they have only just now stopped feeling so heavy??

Hi Chance,

Do you use eye drops for your eyes?

It’s really important to keep them lubricated with preservative free drops (I use Hyco San Extra). Wearing sunglasses helps. I even wear them inside if eyes are very sensitive. I take a selenium supplement daily for TED (started at 100mg but Endocrinologist suggested I take 200mg). Some people just have a Brazil nut, as these are high in Selenium if you don’t want a supplement. I alternate between cold compresses and warm eye masks for relief from grittiness. I have blurring to one eye but not double vision. Do see your optician, as prism lenses can help with this.

I also get a dry mouth (which is worse after I take a diuretic to help reduce eye lid swelling). I find iced water with lots of fresh lemon helps. Keeping hydrated is so important- ensure you keep drinking lots and stay off caffeine... it makes dry mouth worse.

Hope things improve soon.

What kind of pain are you getting? Feelings of heaviness? Restless legs? Burning pain? Muscle spasm? Twitching? Frequent cramp? Benign fasciculations? (Put "benign fasciculations" into Youtube and you'll see videos of people having the problem in their legs, arms, face or wherever. It is a type of muscle twitching that people can't control or stop. It can be very painful.) Also, does it happen in bed? After walking? After running? Going upstairs? We really need more detail and information before anyone can make any sensible suggestions.

Hi Katbar , I sure do . I have bad varicose leg veins besides Hashinotos & Fibro. That said support ( compression) full length pantyhose help & recently started taking magnesium bis-glycinate - I I walk alot, drive manual transmission & climb stairs at home ( 3floor house) both these "treatments" help my heaviness , throbbing & fatigue in legs. Best🌸

I had awful trouble with my legs being heavy, but as soon as my dosage of levothyroxin was adjusted, the heavy legs, trouble walking etc, stopped almost over night

Heavy legs. Was your Levothyroxine adjusted up or down ?

I use LDN (low dose naltrexone) and no longer have pains in my legs.

My legs are a nightmare, I’m 73 with osteoarthritis in my right knee and a bakers cyst in my left knee, standing after sitting is so painful and walking a bit of a challenge at times, I’m now thinking lots of my pain throbbing feet and restless legs at night are possibly caused by my under active thyroid???

Low vitamin D is extremely common when hypothyroid

Have you recently changed brand of Levothyroxine?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

I've had Achilles and vision problems since being hypo but levothyroxine helped it. Just needs adjustment in dosage to stop it fully so maybe you need a slight increase too.

I find 400-800 IUs of natural Vit E (mixed tocopherols) daily along with 1000-2000 mg of Milk Thistle herb daily helps tremendously with dry eyes, sinuses, and mouth caused by Sjogren's. I also eat healthy fats and seeds (coconut and avacado oils, chia and flax seeds) and drink a lot of lemon/lime water.

Milk Thistle is excellent for liver health (which always needs extra attention, in my opinion.) I find when taking it with Vit E the dryness I experience is much improved. And I don't have to use saline mist or natural tears quite as often. It may be worth trying to see if it works for you.

All the best.😊
